Greetings All,

Once again Thank You, Thank You, Thank You for all of your kind words, valuable information and patience.

It has been a few days since I posted and want to update every one on YOUR successes.

Sometime last weekend (a good diary would help me nail the timeframe down a little better...shame on me) things started to change, the frequency, duration and severity of the attacks began to decrease.

On Tuesday I saw my neuroligist for the first time...she quicky confirmed what I have known now for three weeks...I have Cluster Headaches. She prescribed the Prednisone taper and Verapimil I have heard others talk about so much on here. She also ordered MRI/MRA to rule out any of the other nasty things that could be plaguing me.

Between the time I left the Neouroligist on Tuesday at 12:00 PM and 8:30 AM Wednesday I was able to put 13 hours of sleep together, which was probably about the same amount of sleep I achieved in the whole week prior, I started to feel human again.

I still have some specific questions, but I will start posting those to other appropriate areas of the board.

I am not sure I will ever be able to express the gratitude that I do have for those of you who so patiently reply.

Blessings to us all,

d

That's some great news, everyone here loves a good success story. The MRI is a great idea, it won't show a thing, but it's an indication your neuro is on the ball eliminating any other more sinister causes for the headaches.

Hoping you've turned the corner and are on top of beasty now. Beats sitting back on your heels getting slammed. Way to grab that bull by the horns. Wink

Greetings Joe,

There are a few people on these boards that I talk about frequently as if I've known them forever.

Joe, you are no exception and truly do feel like a best friend, you have been most helpful and so selfless with information and support. Know that I am forever grateful and if there is anything I can do please let me know.

I feel fairly certain the MRI will show nothing as well, it will provide my lovely wife with a piece of mind though and for that I'll do it.

Hope all is well,

d

Also can provide an interesting wall hanging or desk photo if you print it out!  Good conversation starter...

Totally love it. I might use some images from my MRI as a background image on my laptop.

Greetings All,

I will ask for an image, I envision an awful lot of uses for it.

I did have an MRI and CAT done several years back due to a seizure that I had. At that time all that was said about the results were...get this..."unremarkable"...not 'Wow'...or, 'That is the nicest looking brain we ever set eyes on'... or, 'Amazing, simply amazing', just... 'unremarkable'.

Piece of mind for the medical community....several thousand dollars.

Piece of mind for my wife...priceless.

As always Thank You, Thank You, Thank You for your collective information, support and SMILES.

Blessings to us all,

d

Good work Joe....Greetings Nork. You have been diligent and hopefully your cycle is starting to phase down for this time. I hope you stay and look at this as a ministry for other newbies when they arrive looking for help.

So happy that you are finally sleeping. Smiley

I see that she didn't prescribe an abortive though.  Imitrex, pure oxygen.  Even if your cycle winds down, you really should ask her for a script for 02...for the next time.

Greetings All,

Linda - It took some doing but I was able to talk my primary care doc into the prescription for oxygen so I do have 4 'E' tanks sitting in my dining room along with the very functional Optimask secured on ch.com. My primary care doc also prescribed some Imitrex nasal spray and my Neurologist gave me some samples of Imitrex injections. The energy drinks 'prescribed' here work a treat for me as well. I also have my first tried and true method of 'walking it off'.

The best news is I never started the Prednisone or the Verapimil and it has been three weeks yesterday since I had any kind of major attack. I am still getting some very bearable shadows and my journal shows me that the Melatonin I have been taking limits those, especially the first in the morning ones. I am still struggling to get my sleeping patterns back on track, but with slowly adjusting the Melatonin I seem to be getting closer each day.

Jimi - I can't give anyone credit but those on this board that were 'diligent' in replying to my first post and every post. While I can't hold a candle to some on this board when it comes to the technical knowledge of Cluster Headaches, my hope is to still hang around and offer my own experience, strengths and hope so that others may not suffer.

As always Thank You, Thank You, Thank You for all those that have suffered before me and monitor these boards to help the 'greenhorns' like myself.

Blessing to us all,

d

I am SO happy to hear that.  I also hope that you have a regulator that goes to at LEAST 25 lpm.  I have one that goes to 45 and the difference in time to abort is very very dramatic.  Like less than 10 mins.
