how much is too much red bull?

Thanks to this site, I have found that red bull works really well and a lot faster than what my doctor prescribed, friva. Problem is, I had 3 today. I just dread these things and when I take the pill I have to go throw 30-40 minutes of pain. People are saying 3 is way too much red bull. Haha, but I love the lack of pain. Once again, I'm taking nifedipine daily and supposed to take friva at the first sign of an attack. Should I change?

The dance instructors at the studio my wife and I go to drink those things like candy, by the six pack. They're all young kids in their late teens, early 20's.

That being said, no one is really sure yet what's a "safe" dose of caffiene/taurine. If you're taking verapamil I know you have to really limit your taurine intake as it can cause serious heart issues. I assume the med you take is "frova"? I ran a check and it doesn't show any known interactions with taurine.

Have you tried/had any luck with oxygen as an abortive?

Read this link for the general info on oxygen use:

For years my insurance wouldn't cover oxygen so I did it out of pocket. Renting E-Tanks, $4-$5 a month, $12-$15 each time you refill. I get about 5-7 aborts a tank.

A regulator can be had off E-Bay or Craigs list for as little as $20 used, new for $40 or so. A good non re breather mask is about $20.

If you go the welding oxygen route, it's even cheaper, and it comes from the same tanks they fill the medical grade tanks with. Welding requires the oxygen be free of any impuritites or the welds are faulty.

The cost of O2 has to be measured less in dollars and more in effectiveness and freedom from pain. I know that sounds trite but it's true. Prices vary from region to region, and even with insurance, it is not consistent. My old insurance covered it as a routine Rx. My new insurance covers it as a deductible under durable medical equipment-hence, the tank is covered, not the O2. Still, I wouldn't be without it. It is amazingly effective in reducing both duration and intensity of my hits. Check it out and you'll be glad you did. Blessings. lance
