O2 Regulator
Dec 22nd, 2011 at 9:11am

Hi,

I am new to this forum and am trying O2 to help with my episodic  cluster headaches (every 3 months or so for 5-8 days). I've just rented a m-tank, 0-15 lps regulator (the strongest one that they had) and a cheap rebreather.  The regulator is $70 per month to rent - ouch.

Any thoughts on this regulator from ebay? The price looks good, but I don't know brand or what questions to ask.

Good morning,

There is so much information on this site regarding oxygen use.  just simplyh search for Oxygen.

Additionally that regulator on E Bay looks good but I am not sure it has the connection necessary to attache to the M tank.  You may want to ask the seller a question about that.

I personally ordered a regulator from Harbor Freight

and also ordered the clustmask from life Gas that is advertised on this site.  That combination works very well.

On the left the link labled Oxygen Info very clearly spells out how to use exremely high flow oxygen.  In a nut shell though you simply turn it up high enough to keep the bag filling while you hyperventilate to knock down the beast then as it subsides and your breathing slows a bit you turn down the o2 to match your breathing.  A standard rule of thumb is usually keep on the o2 for an additional 5 minutes after the pain subsides.

I have found that 15 LPM cannot keep up.

As I stated just search for O2 use and there are many many threads about the best methods to follow.  It has certainly helped me time and time again.

I hope this helps and have a Merry Christmas.

Eric

My reg. only goes up to 15 lpm, however I have it down to a science to work with that.  My abort rates are in the 5 minute or less time with just 15lpm, then I back off to 8lpm for an extra 2 minutes after the abort to seal the deal.  Considering this reg. goes up to 25 lpm, that seems to be a good deal.
