Amoxicillin shot for strept throat and no headache
Dec 30th, 2011 at 5:52pm

The beast came back Christmas eve, of course did not have my oxygen down in Florida so suffered 2 nights of hell.  Have been on batch's formula since last year and had the shortest cycle last year of only 2 1/2 weeks of headaches after getting the vit d up to full strength 10,000 iu daily. Well after getting back home here to Huntsville my throat had been killing me for a while so got a strept test and it was positive, so got the shot in the a$$ and that night 5 days into cycle the headaches have stoped!!!!

It has been 3 days of no headaches. Has anyone ever had any positive response to any antibiotic shot???  Very weird but I am not complaining!!!! Hope everyone is well, my neurologist said he had 4 of his cluster headache patients that had contacted him the day after winter solstice.

It's funny how so many of us follow the winter/spring cycles! I've never had an antibiotic shot affect beasty positive or negative. Worth a footnote in your headache diary, a second occurrence would be way more then coincidence! Hoping this pain free stretch runs a while.

Hey Red Ryder,

Very interesting...  Were you still taking the anti-inflammatory regimen at 10,000 IU/day vitamin D3 when you got the shot of amoxicillin?

The reason I'm asking is the theory behind the success of this regimen as a CH preventative is based on the assumption that it reduces the neurogenic inflammation associated with the cluster headache syndrome...

It's possible that a dose of 10,000 IU/day vitamin D3 may not be sufficient to overcome the neurogenic inflammation in your case, and that adding the amoxicillin, which can have a similar anti-inflammatory effect, was all it took to push you into a PF remission from your CH.

Whatcha think?

Take care and have a Happy New Year!!!

V/R, Batch

You love lots of things if you live around them. But there isn't any woman and there isn't any horse, that’s as lovely as a great airplane. If it's a beautiful fighter, your heart will be ever there

O well, short lived remission. The beast came back yesterday. Batch, I definately think it has something to do with the antibiotics antiinflamatory process-much in the way antibitics help prostatitis just by the antiinflamatory process alone- not killing bacteria in most cases (95%). Anyways it was a great 3 day relief after the high dose shot. I am still on 10 days of oral amoxicillin but it obviously has no effect. Batch I had kept everything the same throughout the year besides dropping the vit d to 5000 units. I am now back up to 10000 iu a day. I am a chiropractor in Alabama and have got a lot of my  headache (migraine) people to talk with their MD's about getting their vit d levels checked. More and more MD's in my area are putting there patients on 5000 iu daily. I have seen great improvements with  a lot of my patients uping their vit d. I have been practicing for 13 years now and have seen only 3 cluster headache patients walk through my door. Still no miracle chiropractic adjustment to stop the beast!!!!

Joe, my neurologist is great and we discuss much of the info I get from this site. I've even got him ok with writting scripts for 20 lpm of oxygen. By the way Joe or anyone else out there- after hitting the O2 I usualy get rehit every 1 1/2 hours later until the morning then I am ok until 9pm at night and the whole process starts over again of hitting the O2 every 1 1/2 when the beast wakes me up-any suggestions. Heres to praying Batch's formula does the trick again this round. Happy new year everyone!!!!

I think it would be interesting to know your 25(OH)D levels are now, after a year. Perhaps your infection reduced your digestive systems ability to absorb D3 and your levels dropped off? That's a complete guess BTW.
If it were me, I'd 'consider' going up to 15,000 or 20,000 IU for a week at least to see if it has any effect.

I forgot to take my regime one day, but took it at 11pm, rather then 10 am the same day. However it was a few days later I got 2 Kip 1's after laying down "relaxing". A 'no-no' while in cycle for me. I also had a small drink last night and got another Kip 1, easily killed by O2.

I haven't been on this regime long enough to 'level out', I'd think, yet I get the feeling that although I'm PF, I'm 'JUST' PF. Meaning that I'm not that far from getting a CH and still in cycle, but my 10,000 IU is getting the job done. Yet Just barely.

Again, those are all just guesses, so take it with a grain of salt.
