Work Related????
Feb 12th, 2012 at 5:26pm

I work for a large minning company, I have worked there for 23 years. In 2000 I was promoted to be the Maintenance Superintendent. This required me to be on call 24/7 , I was awakened often to calls from the plant. The only news I heard was bad as stuff broke down. When I went to work in the AM I was met at the door with bad news every day. In 2006 I started getting the CH,s I wonder if was from all the stress I was under??

In 2009 I went thru a divorce after being married for 20 years. I guess that was a god send since she did not understand the CH,s and now I'm married to Melissa the most loving and caring person I have ever known. Melissa has supported me even during the hellish nights. She convinced me to get further help, I did and now am better off than I was.

In 2010 I took a new job planning maintenance so the stress level has gone down allot.

I now take Prednisone in a taper mode. 8 pills each day for the first week and then decrease by one pill each week till off. I also take verapamil 6 pills a day. And some others to combat side effects. After a few days on the prednisone the ch,s have nearly stopped. I wonder if I could taper off faster to avoid the side effects??? I will ask the doc...

Last night we partied it up after I was feeling the shadow HA's all day and now I feel pretty well except the hangover symptoms. I only drink light beer. But allot. I try to sleep but can't?? Must be the prednizone crap.

Can i taper off pred faster?
Is it due to the stress i was under?
Does Beer hurt?

P.S.
This ite is better than FaceBook Smiley

The taper question should be directed to your doc.
As for stress, like beer, can trigger an attack when in cycle, does nothing out of cycle. I would say the stress factor may have ushered in the onset, but most likely didn't cause anything that wasn't coming anyway.
Stress is a big topic here, I am sure others will chime in on that, but I have never been able to directly correlate stress with CH cycles... and I kept a good diary for many years.

Don't alter the taper the doc put you on for the pred. Coming off fast is not good for you. One of the more knowledgeable types will hopefully chime in with the exactly why...I just remember coming off pred fast = bad!

Stress. I haven't ever read of stress bringing on a cycle. in cycle, stress is a funny one. For some, myself included, sustained stress while in cycle will often times bring on an attack. For others, staying as stressed as they can is almost like a prevent med, it will keep the beast at bay. As soon as they relax, they get hit.

On cycle, alcohol is a very common trigger. Some can indulge and not get hit, for some, only certain alcohols have to be avoided, for some, like myself, drinking anything with alcohol will cause a hit.

I expect that you don't have access, easily, to a headache specialist in/around Bozeman. If that's so, then the job is to feed your doc MEDICAL material, which he will recognize and respect, and teach him how to treat you. This is an approach any number of us have had to follow.

Start by printing out the PDF file, below, and giving to him.

If he is open to receiving such material, the following is from one of the better headache docs in the Chicago. Just get ready to feed your printer! (This one is a good read for you to learn about how to help yourself.)

Stress is likely a trigger when you are in an active phase of Cluster and, surely, alcohol is an almost universal trigger when in an active phase.

The pred will have you baking cookies at 3:00am.
Thats why it works it jacks your system into overdrive. Your heart rate will also elevate. You will grow man boobs and get acne. The prednisone is the only reason you got away with drinking. Get some 02
I am one month in and have used 02,caffeine,and seeds...thats it. Nothing over an 8 so far..
Just Veterinarians in Montana. If the Mayo dont get it there's nothing here in Montany that comes close. If you need a good horse doctor though....he..he.hhee
