I've never heard the term "Devil Poke" but I may have to use that!  Yes, I'll get a sharp pain that almost brings me to my knees.  It'll last maybe 5 seconds and it's gone.  I never really paid it no attention since it usually happens when I'm really tired.

I've heard them referred to as "Ice Pick" pains.  The worst is when I feel it in my teeth.

Yup, and they do bring me to my knees. Once, while I was standing around shaking people's hands (occupational hazard) I got a sharp stab, dropped to a knee, and boy did that person book it out of there real fast. Devil's poke works for me. Blessings. lance

I call it the devils poke because it reminds me of the devils crooked cold finger giving me a sharp poke behind my eye as he laughs out loud as if to say.... "You might think that i have left but i am still here."

Yep, I get those and sometimes little pains right in the areas that my clusters hit when I'm in remission periods, thinking "oh, no here we go again."  I swear they taunt us.   Wink

My god, yes!  Before I researched it, I called them "spikes."  It felt like someone ran up behind me, jabbed a spike into the side of my head, and pulled it out.  Blinding.  "Icepicks" are the general term, idiopathic I believe is the specific, and "shadows" a lot of times on here.  But I think Devil Poke is the best description so far.  I think you've coined one, Bonnie!!

Yes, I know EXACTLY what you mean, I had them for 14 years, and I have now been clear of all headaches for 6 years. DRINK WATER please! Not fizzy, not ice cold, not juice, not squash, just tap water and 6 pints a day for a week. You'll pee a lot to begin with but it will settle down once you are totally hydrated. That poke in the back of the eye, like a warning of agony, is your blood getting too thick. Try it and your life could be like mine is now... awesome!! Good luck

Water X3.  Seems to help some people.  Never did anything for me, but that doesn't mean much.

Here's the link to the post that Margi put up ten or twelve years ago.

Well damn, blood is too thick?  Drinking water thins it down?  I'll have to let all my friends who are on blood thinners know, that they are doing it wrong!  No need for blood thinners, just drink more water!

Those sudden sharp jabs scare the crap outta me and cause insta panic attacks which in turn cause me to tense which messes up my damaged neck which makes the CH worse.
