6 years pain free

I used to live at this site. Considered suicide at least 3 times. The people here gave me hope, and also offered me solutions that I never got anywhere else.
2005 Was my last episode of CH's. I still occasionally get shadows during my cycle, ie... Spring, Fall.
Sometimes I even get a scare thinking oh no, I can feel one coming on. But it just doesnt come on.
I can tell you that I didnt do anything special that I know of except one thing, I quit smoking in May of 2005. I dont know if that was a coincidence.
I have nothing to offer anyone except HOPE. I hope that one day you'll turn that corner and they'll be behind you. I hope one day like me you'll realize that you've gone, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 years without a CH.

With love,

You give HOPE!  Thank you for sharing, and may it never end for you.

All the best,

Edit to add:  I do remember you being on the board, and you are missed, but I am glad you are gone! Wink

That's awesome Patrick!

I was in a remission for 6 years myself.  Unfortunately, I went into the worst cycle in my 32 yr CH history this past August and lasted til the end of December.  Normally my cycles are every other year, odd years, left side, no more than 12 weeks.

This recent cycle I am referring to lasted 5 months!

Like yourself, I stayed away from this site and only checked in a couple times a year while I was in remission.  One thing I learned is that new treatments were found effective in my absence from this site and much inifo I used to know, I forgot and required refreshers.

My recommendation is, even though you are out of cycle, is to pop in a bit more frequently just to educate yourself on new treatments, etc.  So if and when you do go into another cycle, you are not burdened by required studying and can focus immediately on effective treatment.

Enjoy your PF time... Wink

Mr Cluster,

One thing I can say for certain, and as a cluster headache expert... I have found out that this damn syndrome has no rhyme or reason to it, except one common factor... They always come Back!!! ALWAYS.

I came here to win.

I was in 3 year remission, quit chewing tobacco and 3 weeks later they were back?  Started in January and still getting them, never had them in January before??  No wonders Doc's can't figure them out.  Atleast Doc's no how to throw drugs at a problem, Verapamil is the first thing that has really worked for me!

Great news!  I will have been PF five years in a few months... prior to that, my last attack was in 2002 or 2003... so I *think* they're getting farther apart.   Of course we all know there are no guarantees...  I remember one clusterbud saying that the only predictable thing about CHs is their unpredictability.   Huh   Take care!
