Re-introducing myself...just to say "hello'!
Feb 27th, 2012 at 4:11pm

Greetings clusterheads!!  Probably very few people around here remember me. I haven't been on the board in a long, long, time.  Just wanted to say hello.  I joined CH.com back in 2001, I think.  Prior to then, I was having CH attacks roughly every 2 - 3 years, a cycle lasting about 6-8 weeks.  The cycles were starting to get further apart, which was really nice.  My last cycle was in 2007, which ran about 6 weeks, and for the first time I used O2, which really helped.  So 5 years now PF.  I know there's no guarantee that will continue.  I expect I will have another dance with "the beast" within the next year or two, but I keep a pretty positive attitude about the whole thing.
I used to live in Kansas City... about 3 years ago, I did a major career change, and I am now studying to be pastor.

I pray God's blessing on each one of you, that He would graciously give you strength to endure, as you deal with this horrible malady that wreaks havoc on our lives and families.  With my studies, and other demands in my life, I can't promise I will be on the board very often.  But know that you are not far from my thoughts and prayers, esp. when I have those little "scares" of pressure behind the eye that make me wonder if the beast is returning.  (Yeah, I've had a couple "false alarms").  I also have my O.U.C.H. coffee cup to remind me of my struggles... and dear friends who have struggled far, far worse than I have.
Take care, friends!

Hi Stan,

Welcome back!  I remember you for sure, with the name you use how could you be forgotten by one of my generation?  I remember the original Stan the Man getting his 3000th hit, and although I was never a Cards fan he was a hero to me as a kid.  My son contacted him two years ago and got a signed autobiography from him for my Christmas gift.  You have named yourself after a great man of character.

It is great you are studying for the ministry!  Just out of curiosity, where are you studying?  (None of my business I know, but inquiring minds want to know. Grin)  I know that had it not been for my faith in God and what He has done in my life I would have ended it long ago, but I hang on to Jeremiah 29:11-13 with all I have.  I know it is a bit out of context for me to claim it, but I also know that God's character does not change and He has only good in mind for me.

I do hope you will come around once in a while.  We really need you to do so if for no other reason than to give us hope that we may find some PF time as well.  God bless you!

Jerry

I was named after the original Stan The Man!  (My dad's favorite player when I was born... in 1960)

I'm studying in Ft. Wayne, IN -- Master of Divinity (Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod)

Yeah, I'm going to try to remember to come back.  I know there are many who think "I could never follow a God who could do something about CH and didn't"   I understand the doubt and frustration.  What I tell people in my new vocation when they ask "Where is God in all this?"  .... He's right there with you IN the mess.  We forget that mankind messed this world up... not God.  But He takes NO delight in human suffering and He gives us hope by believing in His Son who suffered ALL things for us!
Blessings!

IF for any reason you take the northern route either to or from Ft Wayne and you go by way of Chicago give me a yell.  The coffee is on me.  (I'm clumsy)
