I wanted to share the above link with you.  When I was 15, I went to this clinic twice.  At that time, I was only diagnosed as having migraines, and it was not known that I had clusters at that time, but I was having both cluster headaches and migraines.  After going through this treatment, I have never had a migraine again.  I am not sure if they treat cluster headaches, as I emailed them yesterday and have not gotten a response yet, but based on what I am reading on the site I am guessing their treatments do because it involves blood circulation and arterial tone.  There is a link to email to inquire more about it on the site if you are interested.

Anyway, the treatment is really quite simple.  I will tell you what they did FOR ME.  They used cold water for me.  Every 1 minute, a nurse would come in and dip what looked like an oversized Q-tip in a glass of cold water (not freezing, just cool) and swipe it from the top of my neck, beginning at about my hairline, down my entire spine to my tailbone.  About every 3rd or 5th swipe, she would do the same thing but bring it up from my tailbone toward my hip on one side.  This was because apparently you can have gas buildup, and this helps.  I went twice for quite a few hours each time and they had me do it at home in between those times for 15 minutes 3 times a day.  I was supposed to go again but never followed up.  I was 15 and thought it was bogus at the time.

Anyway, if this interests you, there is a lot of information on the site that explains what they do and how it works, and, like I said, you can contact them and inquire more about it.

This therapy is out and out fraud.  It's listed as quackery.

If you're going to quack about it, at least show me where it says it's a fraud because I can't seem to find any evidence anywhere stating that.  It seems to me from doing research it's one of those treatments that work for some, not for others, which is typical for anything.

Very clever but I know how to use Google, and it still doesn't answer my question of how do you come to the conclusion that this therapy is a fraud?

Why pick at something that might benefit someone when you can't back up what you're saying?...  At least, no one has yet.  I just get quacked at and rude responses suggesting I don't know how to use Google.

I am not saying it's a sure thing.  It's just something I wanted to share as a possible treatment option.

G'day Billie. That sounds different, for sure, but I'm thrilled it worked for you and thanks for passing it on. It might just help somebody who desperately needs it.

Compared to some of the stuff we do, it seems positively sane and sensible.

I apologize, Brew.  I had assumed it was since, as you can see, I am getting a lot of responses that aren't helping anybody, just unproductive sarcasm.

Thanks for the link, Potter.  Which one exactly are you looking under because I don't see the Erdman therapy on there?

Thanks AussieBrian!  I was thinking the same thing about some of the things I have heard people do for their CHs.  It sounds crazy, but it may work for some.  I think if people would do a little research and read a little about it, it might make sense to them.  The association has been around since 1930; so, obviously they are doing something right.

Have a good weekend.

Yeah, well, I was just paying attention to the ones where you could actually click the link, and it would tell you WHY it's considered "quackery."  I find it highly odd it's listed on there with no explanation why.

Anywho, like I said, I went to the clinic near me 17 years ago, it's something I thought I would share, and that's all.  I will let whoever reads this make up their own minds.  I still say it's worth researching for those who are interested.

Maybe that's too much information, Bob, but I gotta ask...why in the world would you have thought to do this at all? It never occurred to me to run a Qtip up my back.

Billie, I'm glad it worked. There may have been some quick reactions that were less than supportive, but it does sound a little strange. I guess I'd ask, why did you think it helped? What were your symptoms before and after? That kind of thing. God bless. lance

I was 15 when I started having migraines and cluster headaches.  At that time, like I said, I was only diagnosed as having migraines.  After going down to the clinic, my migraines stopped, but I never followed up; so, I don't know how it would have worked out for my cluster headaches.

There was a distinct difference between my cluster headaches and migraines.  When a migraine was coming on, I knew it the minute I woke up in the morning because I got an aura, and then the headache would last all day.  Meanwhile, I was getting hit in school every day, in the same class with a cluster headache.  I even remember what we were studying at the time because it was such a bad pain that it was frightening.  After my experience with the clinic though, I haven't had 1 migraine.

The site talks about and a doctor I saw down there taught my mother and I about checking my vasomotor tone.  I wish I could remember more about that, but if you read on the site it goes into detail about how to do that.  Before, during and after treatment, the doctor would come in and evaluate this and have us feel it, and you could really tell a difference.

I am not recommending anyone to do this without at least talking to someone down there because some people require warm and some cool and some even alternating, but there is a link to email, and the site goes into detail about the different classes.

I am Francis Erdman, and am the webmaster for the Frederick Erdman association (he was my great-grandfather). My dad, Frank Erdman, the grandson of Frederick Erdman, currently owns the IP, etc., though the clinic itself is no longer operational, though might be revived in the future. In terms of the issue of "quackery" I think it is something that works for some people's situations, but not everyone, depending on the circumstances.  It can't hurt, put it that way. Smiley As for cluster headaches, it is worth a shot, since circulatory issues can well involve themselves with headaches. That said, Erdman therapy or any other therapy never replaces going to one's doctor for checkups etc. If it helps, great. But it is not a replacement for traditional therapies, merely an "add on" that can work for some folks. But again, it does NOT replace going to one's GP, just to be clear. Smiley Email me at FrancisErdman@yahoo.com if you all have any questions on erdman therapy. cheers.

I find it strange that "The plague"  came here for the first time and found this particular thread from a year and a half ago.    Yep..very curious.

Though I am not a CH sufferer my son is and before I came across this site I would forward links like this to my son in hopes that it would help.   Because of this we have spent thousands of dollars on 'quackery' and he lost all hope of ever gaining control over his CH.
There are hundreds of so-called CH 'cures' but I will never believe them until I hear from a real CH sufferer with specific instructions,(d3 and o2 come to mind) not someone who did something 15 years ago.
