Food Triggers
Mar 5th, 2012 at 9:25pm

I've been reading on the boards that chocolate is a no no, so I stopped and started eating pink grapefruit. Then I read acidic foods are bad too! Is there a list of foods to avoid on the boards (sometimes I get lost looking). I also saw on the main page "5 foods not to eat" and a picture of a banana. Are bananas bad too. I'm prone to cramping feet and need the potassium. Can I take potassium tabs?
I have to thank you all for the tip on Redbull. I took a nap and woke up with a K7 drank a Redbull and it nipped it in 10 minutes. That was my first attack in the daytime. I've never had an attack napping before. Hope to get some info on foods soon. Thanks for being here.

Unlike migraine, food triggers are not established as a factor in Cluster.

The big ones for us are alcohol (when in cycle), various solvents and cleaning agents--but not any broad agreement re. foods.

I'm with Bob, alcohol is the only food trigger for me, although allowing myself to get really hungry is also a trigger when I'm in cycle.

If you're using verapamil do NOT eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice as there is a strong interaction between the two.

Thank you all. I have not started on Verepamil yet. I requested it from my Dr. yesterday and have not heard back. Hoping he's checking in to it. He's a neurologist but I don't think he's up on CH's but seems willing to learn. If not I found a name of another Dr. here in New Orleans off this sight whom I will call. This sight is invaluable and you people are wonderful.
