Here I go again...!!!!

People - watch for SCHOOL BUSES during the school season... When their red lights go on - STOP your car.. you ain't got to get no where in a big hurry if it means a kid's life...

I've had a day and a half to calm down, but yesterday morning Caleb almost got run down by an idiot who didn't bother to stop for the school bus... The kid has to cross the road to get on the bus in and catches the bus at 6:40 in the morning (just as the sun wants to come up)... The red lights were flashing and had been for a minute or so and this car had plenty of time to stop, but barrelled right along doing about 70 and almost hit Caleb...

Yes , I called the Sheiff's dept after I saw he was ok and I hope they got the (*&^!!! Right now I'm trying to get the DPS to put a patrol car on this road in the mornings to watch for idiots like this one... This is the SECOND time that's happened in the past four months!!

And the guy realized he'd done wrong cause he hit his brakes about 500 yards down the road, slowed down, but kept on going.. And no, it was dark and he was going too fast to get the license plate.. Caleb said the bus driver said some "bad words" -- but she probably didn't say near the bad words Granny was saying..

Ya'll keep cash handy -- Granny may be out in the road in her jammies stopping traffic in the mornings and afternoons and making a public nuscience of herself before it's over.. But I'm just plain angry about this... there just no reason for it..

End of vent - ya'll just watch out for kids and school buses ya hear.. Kiss

Was one of my favorite cites when I was still working...I'd stalk the buses on their routes. It's about a $300 ticket in California. People get a little too hung up on themselves when they drive and forget there is a whole world existing around them. Angry Glad Caleb is okay, rolled on a few too many of those when the children weren't as fortunate. Cry

"Somebody had to say it" is usually a piss poor excuse to be mean.

After a round of talks with everyone in captivity.. we worked out a solution (not the greatest, but a solution that will keep Caleb safe). He will catch the bus - about 30 minutes later as it's heading back to town - the last kid on and ride it till all the other kids have been delivered and it's heading back to town and be the last one off in the afternoon... that way it will be on our side of the road.

AND there's going to be more patrols out here and more tickets given for speeding. Hopefully that will stop some of this ... I just hope they do this with the other buses also.

But it's like everything else - the squeaky wheel gets oiled. We yelled so we got something done... but if it's a problem out here then it's a problem elsewhere so why not look at the BIG problem and not just parts of it?

After tax season, I may just get on my soapbox about this one. guess you don't think about it unless it hits close to home, but one kid hit is one too many.

And kudos to you Joe... I wish we had more like you around here.. Kiss
