new guy needs help with going drug free
Aug 31st, 2012 at 4:54pm

I'm getting ready to go into a cycle and I'm thinking about going drug free, which does not include O2 and Alieve. I want to stay off the verap and triptipans in an effort to decrease the length of the cycle. I'm 45 years of age and I cycle every 2 to 3 years and I get hit 3 to 4 times a day. When I was younger, say 15 to 20 years back and I didn't know that triptapans and O2 were available I just fought it with Asprin, and sometimes Vicodin and Marijuana and, the cycles seemed shorter with only a few pain level 10's mixed in (I also used alcohol during this period, now I don't drink). What I need to know is if there is anyone out there that can give me tips on a drug free cycle with the help of 02. I'll try most anything! Wink

First off, I would not go without the O2.  O2 is NOT a drug, it's what we need to breathe as humans.  O2 will not prolong your cycle either.  I've gone my last 2 cycles prescription drug free and made it through ok, but if I didn't have the O2, I would have been seriously hurting.  I also took melatonin before bedtime.  Hope this helps.

Exactly what Mel said.  If you have a script for 02...I cannot think of one good reason to not use it.  In fact I think it's almost masochistic.   Shocked

I've done it drug free for more than 15 years now, Jim, and simply handle each headache as a one-off event to be beaten and forgotten. I found that the different medications either helped little, increased the problem, or simply left me less able to cope - all of which seemed counter-productive.

Best move I made but to each their own.

Don't think he means to give up O2 if I'm reading his post right.

It was the wording.  Sorry Jim!

If you are thinking about going drug free, look into an Ayurvedic diet. I started it 8 days ago. I have suffered for 15 years and also taken the drug route but it's not working this time. I am 7 weeks into this episode, the longest ever for me. Tonight I awoke and decided to use the tens unit I have for my back. See my recent post called Abort immediately with a tens unit. I cannot believe the pain decreased within 30 seconds. I wish you the best of luck "new guy". Message me if you want to chat, I'm always looking for support and willing to be supportive.
