New guy from TN

Hello All,

I just happened upon this site, but it looks like it has some valuable information. I'm a 44 y/o guy who has fibromyalgia.

About 2 weeks ago, I developed a headache, first over my left eye, now it's in my forehead. I also have some short and long term memory issues. In addition, I have developed dizziness.

I saw a PA at my doctors office, who was very understanding.

I also found out that I have a really bad sinus infection that I didn't know about, for which I got Amoxicillin and Prednisone.

I was also sent for a CT scan, which came back clear.

Anyway, after the CT scan was OK on Monday, I got two prescriptions for my headaches, Maxalt  for my migraines and another that I don;t remember for my tension headaches. They also doubled my dose of Amitriptyline.

On the 28th, I woke up fine, feeling good, no headaches, reasonable pain level. I went to work. By the time that it was 8:30, I was progressively getting worse.... anxiety, couldn;t sit still; pain down my arms and legs and very foggy (like a typical fibro, flu-like flare).  I just wanted to lay down. Finally, I had to leave work. I decided to drive home. I called my wife and asked her to replay my symptoms to the Dr. At the time, I thought that I may be having a reaction to the increased dosage. I also called the neurologist that I was referred to see if I could move up my appointment (the closest that they had was 9/10). I told them that I was worried and need something/anything if they can find sometime sooner because I have to still go to work and can't function.

Five minutes later, I got a call back from my wife asking me to stop driving ( I was getting worse anyway). She and my oldest on came to get me and took me to an emergency visit with the doctor, who is running some blood tests. By this time, I was really feeling strange, like my skin didn't fit me right. I know that that sounds strange. I was borderline delusional, couldn't walk straight, etc.

I was sent home with my wife while she picked up my prescriptions. The doctor told me to stay home from work for the next few days. I was essentially on bed rest.

I am worried as this whole two weeks has been a progressive downhill slide. I'm worried because I have to go back to work this Tuesday and I'm not even close to a solution.

I guess that's it for my introduction. Sorry that it's so long.

Hello New Guy from TN. While we can sympathize with what you're going through, we mostly focus on Cluster Headaches and the damage they cause. It doesn't sound as if you have been diagnosed with CHs and from the symptoms you list, I'm not sure you will be. There are other conditions that can mimic CHs but which respond to a completely different medical prescription. Did you take the cluster quiz at left? It goes through the most common symptoms of the beast. I really am not familiar with most of what you list. I hope you find both answers and relief. Blessings. lance

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to reply to me. When I was looking around your site, I came into the site off of a Google search and didn't see the quiz.

I've since taken it and according to the first part, I probably don;t have cluster headaches. The second part was so-so, but taken as a whole, probably don't.

Thank you for your time and I wish you all as many pain free days as possible.
