can't sleep
Sep 21st, 2012 at 5:25am

been up sense 1 when my attack hit.
mom wouldn't let me take melatonin, which I know corelation causation but whenever I take it don't get nocturnal attacks, because it made me drowsy the next day.
gaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh school starts in 2 and a half hours and I have to be up in an hour to get ready.

Being new, I mentioned it does that the first few times.  Your doc told you to take 10mg of melatonin, I'm glad it helped, but it's an off-the-shelf item, not a prescription.  You might try less, with Mom's permission.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I honestly believed the idea of melatonin is to take it before bed to prevent the nocturnal hits so as to leave you fit for school in the morning.

I'd believe that's what he did, Bri, take it at night, but 10mgs the first time left him dragged out all the next morning, like the sandman brought a wheelbarrow.  Same for me the first few times I took it.  Starting at 3 - 6mgs would have been a better initiation.

idorko,
With all due respect to your parent, get your mom on this website and we will educate her about her son's needs!

Nobody, repeat...nobody...knows Cluster Headaches (CH's) better than this worldwide message board.

We can very well easily teach her what you require for treatment and support.  Just need to get her to join up and introduce herself.  Since she may be potentially holding you back, we can help you by teaching her.

This weekend maybe you two will have some extra time to join and look around this site abit?  Read, ask questions, mom intros herself with her own board name, etc.

Let us know how we can help!  We are here for you and we truly understand your pain and frustrations.  I personally understand from a child's point of view as my CH's began at a very young age of 11. Angry  Yes, my education suffered too!

Be tough! Wink

As he's sixteen, I get the feeling she has been reading along.  Someone has been acting on nudges and leads, getting him to a neuro quick, getting his verap and oxygen scripts taken care of that day, and getting him back to school asap.  Her guidance has been great support.

The first night of verapamil and 10mgs melatonin was a bit of a sledgehammer in the morning.

Some may listen at the door of the nuthouse before entering.   Wink
