Had my first ten
Oct 9th, 2012 at 8:03am

Well I have said before that I was sure I had a ten on the kip scale well boy was I wrong. But I had one last night I have never felt my heartbeat in my eyeball will I have now. I scared the hell out of my wife she thought I was gonna have a stroke or something I really thought I was gonna pass out from pain everytime my heartbeat it felt like someone slaming the left side of my head in a car door. took my injection and that seemed to make it worse and no o2 at the house yet so made my way to the firehall and they helped me out.

This sounds like my worst nightmare.  I would try to get in home oxygen as well.

I think you just got a wake up call on the O2!  Definitely get it, and I highly recommend the O2ptimask found in the ch.com store on the left of the screen.  I would also suggest getting your own regulator that will go to at least 25 lpm.

Then you can rig up a hose attachment for the regulator with the right fittings and a valve.  Find your local welding gas supplier and get a couple of tanks.  One for a back-up

And when the headaches are gone, YOU CAN BURN STUFF!! cut through 1/4" steel etc..

That kit from Lowes that Eric posted above cost $200 bucks and is not necessary.

Go to Harbor Freight Tools and pick up an o2 regulator for $35 bucks.

^^^^That does look like a better regulator even.  Already has the right hook-up for an air line.

When my CH's came back after 14 years, I had to hustle and find something in the store in stock ready to go.  I started out this cycle with two 8-9's in a row four hours apart, no warning, and the O2 set up at work that I always borrowed was already loaned out.

With the lowes set-up.  I had it up and running in two hours.  It took probably thirty minutes to get that damned bubble pack open though.

Good luck O.P. and definitely get some O2 flowing.

I also picked up an  Equate (Walmart Brand) reusable cold compress gel pack for the headaches.  It keeps the bad ones for me from really getting bad.  It prevents the swelling around the eye.  Before I picked it up, I had a K10 that had my right eye bulged out over 1/4 inch and bloodshot.  I overslept that one and didn't get to the O2 soon enough.  Four hours later is subsided.

Also try Lots-O-Coffee or a Red Bull.  They both worked to kill it for me when I was too late on the O2, but it may have increased the frequency, not sure.

But Vegas....Eric gets to destroy stuff afterwards!!! Wink

Great posts,  kudos to both of you.  Smiley SmileyEither set-up looks like something even a guy as dense as me could set up and use.

So Sorry to hear of your hard hit!
But as all are saying it is essential to have your o2 setup ready and waiting. Also to have as large of an abortive arsenal as you can. o2, red bull, imitrex, frozen peas, popcicles and what ever you learn on here that works for others is highly recommended
Best of luck to you and always know you are not alone in your fight!....Johnny Smiley

It is the same stuff. Welder's O2 cannot have impurities lest it compromise the integrity of welds.

About 0xygen I worked at a fill plant andnthe only difference between medical grade usp oxygen an welders.o2 is that med. Grade is batch tested. The whole time inwirked there we had no oxygen below 99.8% including welders grade..

Thanks for the post Monroe, I'd heard similar stories but nice to hear from someone who worked in the field.
