Thank you Batch, you too.

I have plenty of Imitrex injections to last me and I'm trying to eliminate as many variables as possible.  This cycle started about 3 weeks ago, the fact that its ending now is very odd.  I will try to continue the original experiment with as few variables as possible and use the injections as a backup.  I'm willing to wager that I will be completely off my cycle by this time next week.  Cool

It's funny, in all ways, but does anyone else recall the threads where masturbation was touted as a CH cure? Or abortive. That one went roundy round for quite some time. And the poster was adamant about it. As is Elliot. Can't be both though and I will say what was said then: when I'm in cycle, and on high doses of verapamil, the last thing I'm interested in is sex, or autosex, or tv porn. I just want the PAIN TO GO AWAYYY. blessings. lance

Guys I am almost 100% sure that this is the cause.

To aid in a experiment, I just tried to achieve the fully erect state of happiness and take measurements.  To get this, pulled up a favorite video.  As soon as I got my numbers, I blue balled myself (a total of maybe 30 seconds to do all of this).  As soon as I tricked my brain like that, bam, shadow.

This is the answer guys.  Want to rid yourself of CH?  Stop tuggin, especially to porn.

Also, as far as the Vitamin D3 working:

Does vitamin D play any role in dopamine?

Active vitamin D plays a role in the formation of dopamine by its effects on the enzyme tyrosine hydroxylase needed to produce dopamine.

And there are a good many more reports to be had.....

Causes and management of thunderclap headache: a comprehensive review.
Linn FH, Wijdicks EF.
SourceDepartment of Neurology, Central Military Hospital/University Medical Center, Utrecht, the Netherlands. f.h.h.linn@neuro.azu.nl

Abstract
BACKGROUND: Thunderclap headache (or sudden severe headache) is an uncommon type of headache. Recognition and accurate diagnosis of this headache are important, because there is often a serious underlying brain disorder.

SUMMARY: In this article, causes and management of thunderclap headache are discussed. In the primary care setting, there is a serious cause in one third of patients, but in the hospital setting, up to two thirds of patients have a serious underlying brain disorder. Clues in history and physical examination can point to a possible serious underlying cause of thunderclap headache, such as subarachnoid hemorrhage, intracranial hematoma, or cerebral venous thrombosis. The remaining patients with thunderclap headache, however, have a primary headache disorder, such as migraine or (less frequently) tension headache with an unusual sudden onset, exertional headache, coital headache, cough headache, or CLUSTER HEADACHE. The concept of thunderclap headache as a distinct clinical entity is discussed, with implications for its evaluation. Present radiological techniques are reviewed with regard to their diagnostic utility in detecting a serious brain disorder.

CONCLUSIONS: Thunderclap headache is an uncommon type of headache, and a serious underlying cause should be excluded.

Abstract
Headache caused by sexual activity, or coital headache, is included in International headache classification (1988). The paper presents 19 cases (15 males, 4 females, mean age 34 years) examined by the authors. In 58% of the cases, headache developed before orgasm, in 26%--during orgasm and in 16%--after it. Duration of severe headache was from several to 15 min and of moderate one--up to 7 h. In total, disease lasted from 1 week to 8 years. Focal neurological symptoms were

BACKGROUND: The pathophysiology of the explosive type of headache associated with sexual activity is not completely understood. SourceKlinika Neurologii, Akademia Medyczna, Warszawa. domitrz@amwaw.edu.pl

Abstract
Benign coital headache is known as a rare type of primary headache related to sexual activity. The pathogenesis of this type of headache remains unknown. Clinical manifestation is typical and connected with three phases of sexual activity. Coital cephalalgia is divided into two subtypes: preorgasmic and orgasmic headache. Some authors specifie the third type--postural type. Preorgasmic headache starts as a dull bilateral ache and increases with sexual excitement. Orgasmic headache has sudden, intense character and occurs at orgasm. Postural headache has been reported to develop after coitus. The author describes four cases of different types of sexual headache, which were effectively treated. Indomethacin was effective in all patients as direct treatment and propranolol was effective in patients to whom it was administrated as preventive treatment.

SourceDepartment of Neurology, Inje University Ilsan Paik Hospital, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, Republic of Korea. movement@ilsanpaik.ac.kr

Abstract
We present a 44-year-old woman who was admitted to our hospital after three episodes of coital headache. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and angiography (MRA) revealed no vascular abnormality. She was discharged with a diagnosis of primary headache associated with sexual activity (PHSA). Although she abstained from sexual activity after discharge, she experienced recurrent headaches several times a day, whenever there was a change in her emotional state. This case implies that emotional changes can trigger headache attacks during headache-prone state in PHSA.

Anyway

UPDATE:  Since last night little "experiment" I've had 2 CH shadows.  One that I posted about last night, and one this morning.  I think I may have had 2 this morning, as I remember injecting myself several times and refilling my cartridges twice...

Started to get another shadow about an hour ago, so in order to abort it without reaching my Imitrex-24 hour limit, I took a hot shower.  It aborted it for the duration of the shower and came back as soon as I got out.  SO I went to DD and got an XLarge Dunkaccino with a turbo shot of espresso.  Last time I checked this was roughly 200mg of caffeine plus whatever is in the turbo shot.  It's workin pretty well.

Definitely will attribute this influx of attacks to the "test" I ran last night.  Dopamine is released during the "search" for porn and satiating the need of watching the video whereas it is theorized that opiates are what are released during orgasm.

That certainly wouldn't seem like a hostile remark to a Marine.  In fact it would get a chuckle.

If you keep injecting yourself with imitrex, you have anything but a controlled experiment going on, Mr. PhD of Googling Shit.

I don't understand.  The frequency is going down(or was, rather, before viewing porn last night); I'm not going to forsake my only means of relief...

And Potter, a cover is what goes on your grape.  Are you jerkin my chain here?  I really could care less if you're being facetious, and if you're not, I apologize.

You all might find this interesting:

During my current cycle, I started a type of meditation I guess you could call it?  At the peak of the pain, I would close my eyes and try to envision exactly where was coming from inside of my skull.  The visual that I got in my brain was electricity shooting in between two cells.  What helped me to ease the pain, although slightly, Was to imagine the surface that the electricity landed on, and essentially instruct my brain to NOT complete the circuit.  I would envision the electricity hitting "dead flesh".  And this seemed to help.

Through my research, I came upon a diagram of dopamine being released and being transferred dopamine receptors.  The process in the diagram is exactly what I envisioned in my brain.  Again, Sounds crazy, but I'm trying to put all the pieces together.  I'll link the diagram/video in the next post.

Elliot

Assuming it's possible to get any empirical evidence for the hypothesis - have you  done any work on that?

(For instance CH should be less occuring among assumed non-masturbating porn viewing maniacs like monks, priests, and other religious)

Granted, these people may be the most heavy meatbeaters of all, but it may be worth a try.

Yeah, don't worry - that ain't gonna happen.

You understand that so far you have an experiment group of one with a control group of zero, right? Yet you are sure you have cracked the code of what causes CH.

You'll pardon me if I call BS. This isn't just bad science, it's beyond the black stump science.

Get back to me once you've got some solid numbers. And for God's sake stop your ridiculous claims. New members are particularly vulnerable to BS claims like yours.
