Ok guys my insurance finally kicked in (today). Its a very good PPO and I can see specialists without a referral. I live in the Texas Hill Country (San Antonio area). I could look up a specialist myself, but was hoping someone knew a "Good one" in my area so I don't have to screen them because the closests major city (San Antonio), is still an hour away. So if any of you know of any in my area, please let me know. I am out of my cycle now, but want to prepare myself for the next one. I don't think I could bear to see my son watching me go through another 7 or greater. Thanks guys I appreciate everything you've done to help me so far. You are all family to me.

Thanks Marc. Yes I'm in Kerrville. I'm really wanting a CH Specialist in the SA area. I am aware that Austin, Dallas, and Houston would be my best bet and when it comes to finding relief for these.....nothing is a "long haul". It will just be tough because most likely I will have my 4 YO son with me.

I also want a Specialist who is "O2 friendly", this is really my main reason for seeking a specialist. I have high blood pressure so many of the medicines aren't an option for me. That and the price of them (even with insurance). How in the hell do you guys afford them? Either way, I will call whomever, but will most certainly want an O2 script because this will become my first choice in abortatives.

I trust this site and feel that the Moderators have ZERO tolerance towards "terrorists". Thanks for responding so quickly and I'll keep you informed of what avenues I take.

LOCATING HEADACHE SPECIALIST

1. Yellow Pages phone book: look for "Headache Clinics" in the M.D. section and look under "neurologist" where some docs will list speciality areas of practice.

2.  Call your hospital/medical center. They often have an office to assist in finding a physician. You may have to ask for the social worker/patient advocate.

They will send a list of M.D.s for your state.I suggest using this source for several reasons: first, we have read several messages from people who, even seeing neurologists, are unhappy with the quality of care and ATTITUDES they have encountered; second, the clinical director of the Jefferson (Philadelphia) Headache Clinic said, in late 1999, that upwards of 40%+ of U.S. doctors have poor training in treating headache and/or hold attitudes about headache ("hysterical female disorder") which block them from sympathetic and effective work with the patient; third, it's necessary to find a doctor who has experience, skill, and a set of attitudes which give hope of success. This is the best method I know of to find such a physician.
