Safe House
Jan 15th, 2013 at 3:55am

Just awake "cluster schedule" watching Safe House and saw the "Water-Boarding" scene. I made a comment to my GF and was wondering what you guys and gals thought. I would take 30 min- and Hour of being "water-boarded" over a headache and wondered how you guys felt. (Yes I have had some friends do it to me because I'm sick like that and wondered "how bad can it be". Yes it sucks......but its painless other than the mental aspect.

Never experienced that torture....but I doubt it would rival a CH hit. No....I'm not signing up to prove the point either.....  Cheesy

I learned in torture school you must believe absolutely that the pain will stop in just a couple of minutes and then be gone forever.

That little mantra has served with distinction during my 35 year career as a CHead.

when done correctly, water boarding makes it impossible to breath.  basically, it feels just like drowning, you involuntarily cough with every breath, and cant get a breath in at all.  fluid goes into your bronchial tubes every time you try to inhale, which forces you to cough, which in turn makes the whole process feel even worse since you involuntarily try to inhale and repeat the whole process.  it allows you just enough air to remain conscious (usually) while feeling like you are actually drowning.  you will never forget the experience.

that said, i would pick waterboarding over cluster headache.  after a short time you lose your mind with either one, but after a while, you can start to calm down from water boarding and realize that you can inhale really hard and fast and get a few seconds after the ensuing cough where you dont feel like your about to die.
