30 year veteran of CH's, and still not over them
Feb 19th, 2013 at 10:48pm

Hello,   After a nice 4 year break, my cluster headache cycle is back.  I learned a little bit over the last few days. First and foremost, was that I  was not very well taught how to use oxygen (to abort a CH). Recently, I  was talked into giving it another shot, and now armed with new information, hope to reduce severity, duration and occurencess of these nasty headaches.

"Somebody had to say it" is usually a piss poor excuse to be mean.

Sorry you've been at this so long, but I am right there with you. I have found this site to literally be a life saver. The O2 alone is worth the price of admission (oh yeah it's free) but there are other goodies here to help you cope. Read and read some more and ask any questions. We have tons of accumulated experience with what does and does not work so well. God bless. lance

I am pretty encouraged this morning.  I had a 2nd CH about 4 hours later and the oxygen knocked it out in about 8-10 mins.  I think I am going to try Vitamin D3, fish oil regimen as well. This is a good forum.  I truly think a CH sufferer is the only one knows the hell we go though...I value the input and suggestions.  My wife has a good idea, but words can't explain the true nastiness of how bad these headaches are .....thanks Joe and Lance....

I don't call them headaches anymore, I tend to use the term "attack."  99.9% of the population doesn't have an accurate reference point, so saying you get headaches results in comments like "I have some excedrin."

...and you are most welcome. It's great to hear success. I remember the very first time I put on an O2 mask during an attack. Wow. The relief was immediate. And because of this site and the shared exeperiences I've been able to reduce hit times from 45 minutes each, to a mere 3-5 minutes per. BTW, try coupling the O2 with a full energy drink like Red Bull or Monster. It helps prevent the attacks from returning. God bless. lance
