clusters ended -bad migraines in there place
Feb 26th, 2013 at 9:01am

Sunday I got a bad migraine took meds and went to bed, woke up no pain all day Monday. Moday night approximately 8 pm got another bad migraine . I am going in for a procedure next week so I can't take certain meds so I went to bed in pain. Woke up at 4:30 am with kind of a combo cluster & migraine headache so I did the cluster thing with ox and hot water. it chased the cluster pain away but I woke up today with a migraine still.  I sure hope the migraine subside soon cause a week with no meds sucks.

Although nothing like as bad as a CH, migraines are not exactly fun either. Do see your doctor about how to deal with them. Just like CH there are multiple preventives available, like propanolol (which worked wonders for me) and when you get a migraine there are abortives like maxalt melts and imitrex too. If you're getting them frequently be careful of rebounds from overusing medication too.

Why do you have no meds for a week?

What kind of procedure are you having?

I have both types of headaches too..(and both are chronic) so I feel your pain (always wanted to say that..).

Why are you off meds?

Best advice I can give you is to call your doc and tell him/her what's going on with the headaches and that you need SOMETHING and NOW! There's no reason to suffer if you don't have to even if it means putting off the procedure for another week or so.

Let us know what happens..  Kiss

I think it was 2005, NYE I wound up with a migraine from hell before 8pm, so I missed the ball drop.
Had been chronic for almost 8 years at that point, and about 2 weeks after the initial migraine, the Clusters stopped - out of the blue. In place of them, I started getting wicked migraines, which I could deal with, as I would only have one bad day that would keep me in bed.
Maybe this is a signal the CH's are about to break? I hate for migraines to be the alternative, but I could at least function halfway decent compared to the CH's.

Sucks that you can't take any meds. For me, Tylenol Migraine would take them away pretty quick and if it got too bad, I would take a Frova tab.

Good luck with your procedure. I also hope the CH's are on their way out and the migraines don't last.

Living proof that busting can turn a chronic to episodic!

Live each day as if it were your last because one day, you will be right.
