Greetings!
Mar 5th, 2013 at 10:45am

Greetings, my name is Barry. I am a 40 year old male who has been a clusterhead for approximately 17 years. My cycle use to run every 18-24 months and generally last 6-8 weeks. It would start with shadows during random times of the day and then progress to a full blown CH starting one two hours after falling asleep. At the worst I would have a cluster attack every other night for two weeks and then return to shadows. With age I have noticed a decrease in the length of my cycle….what use to be 6-8 weeks is now more like 4-6. Also, they seem happen 2-3 times a week for  2 weeks and return to random shadows. My last cycle in January was totally different! There were some shadows but the actual CH started happening during the day between 9-11am. This happened every 4 days for about 3 weeks.

The reason I’m here is that I started to have stomach problems (nausea) a week or two after my last cycle. I stumbled on this forum when I goggled ‘cluster headaches and stomach problems’. I also have minor bouts of vertigo which has subsided for the most part. Right now I’m waiting on some blood work results and taking prescribed meds for stomach acid production.

Welcome to the board snob! (love the handle!)

First and MOST IMPORTANTLY

Follow this link to the medications section of this board and read the post

Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register

It’s a vitamin/mineral/fish oil supplement, all over the counter stuff. It’s up to an 81% success rate of those who try it and respond to the survey so you’re just shooting yourself in the foot if you don’t give it a shot. I’m 3 years pain free on it after a 30 plus year track record with episodic CH. Best of all, it’s healthy for you even without CH! What follows is a recent update from that link:

As of January 20, 2013, the compiled raw data indicates an efficacy of 80%. 240 out of the 300 CH'ers who have started this regimen and stayed on it for a month or more have experienced a significant reduction in the frequency and severity of their CH... 78% of the 300 CH'ers experienced a pain free response and 60% of the 300 have remained essentially pain free. Episodic and chronic CH'ers respond to this regimen at roughly the same rate.

Preliminary survey results indicate most of these CH'ers were pain free before the end of the third week with some responding in a little as 12 to 24 hours. The average time to respond is five days

So all that follows will be worthless I hope……….but still…

Do you have oxygen yet? Oxygen should be your first line abortive. Breathing pure 02 will abort an attack for me in less then 10 minutes, that’s completely pain free. Read this link as it must be used correctly or it will not work

This link will show you how to get set up with welding oxygen:

Hoping you catch a short cycle this go round. The only stomach issues I've experienced with CH were from the meds I've taken, especially the old school stuff, Cafergot, Lidocaine, fiorinal and the likes.

Joe

It's also possibly a different issue unrelated to CH.

I'd visit your doctor to see what they think...

Thanks for the post gentlemen. I'm taking my time and going through all the threads in this forum...there is a lot to digest!!! Lol

My stomach issues started in my last cycle which could be a coincidence. Anyways I've been to the doctor trying to get this sorted.

Thanks again
