Let's get this straight
Mar 8th, 2013 at 2:15am

The headache for 3 days to a week is a migraine.  If you have a p##is and you swear you have a migraine,  you should see a doc immediately.  However if you have a Va##na and you THINK you suffer from clusters SEE a doctor.  Clusters are the men's problem.  The pain felt in that week period is what a cluster is 3 to 5 times a day for at least an hour at a time.  From 1995 to 2006 I suffered, learned, and taught.  Between a prednisone regiment, ativan, 02, hot showers with reverb, hot and cold packs, I didn't have to put a drill to the pain.  As of 06 I have been free.  I apologize for anything taken wrong.

Hey, thanks! But...how can I say this...you're wrong. There are no neat packages when it comes to CHs. And women do get them. Read the testimonies here and find out how a CH differs from a migraine, not as you describe but as we have experienced them. One thing, though...I tend to agree clusters come in clusters (hence the name) and are not continuous. That aside, I think your post is awkward at best. God bless. lance

Yeah Batch possibly so, hey Tony, if you're for real, you kinda broke thru thin ice on this one! It's equally possible you posted during a hit which is always a crap shoot.

Stick around here for a period of time and with the exception of Linda, who just fakes CH,  Grin...(bring it little girl!!!) there are a LOT of women here who suffer from CH....and sadly enough a lot of MEN who suffer from migrains in addition to their CH! Welcome to our little community.

"Cluster is a men's problem" is like saying menstruation is a women's problem.

Lot of us blokes suffer badly from those cycles.

I had to read your post twice to get what you were trying to say, I suppose its because I have a va###a, anyways I'm gonna let you slide on that assuming a doctor told you that and assuming you believe everything you hear. Although it is true more men have clusters then women. I agree my cluster ha's are far worse then any migrain I've ever had. Let me get this straight , you said you've been free sense 06, you meen free like "from prison" or you meen, pain free. And if so I was curious if it was from some kind of treatment that you tried ?

May I? I just moved and switched neurologists to a man who told me the same thing. Took one look at me, saw I was female, and told me I must be having migraines because women don't get cluster headaches. This man did not even look at my medical record/previous diagnosis or ask me any questions before walking out the door and telling me to take some ibuprofen.  Angry

It is true that men get more CHs than females. It's also true that that gap has been closing in recent years. This may have to do with the fact that doctors are learning more about them and properly diagnosing ALL people, both male and female... or not. We really don't know yet.

The thing is, we don't know a lot about cluster headaches, and what we do know has only been discovered fairly recently. Saying that CHs are a man's problem is like saying breast cancer is a females problem, or that males don't get migraines... it's simply outdated information, not to mention a bit narrow minded.

Even though it's quite possible that this user is trolling, it makes me sad that people (especially doctors!!) still do believe that cluster headaches only affect men. I don't know about you guys, but I'm all about moving forward and finding a cure for these damn things. We can't do that if we continue to preach and teach such outdated information.

Thanks for the clarification, Tony. I have had a few doctors tell me the same thing. One thing, though, can you tell my f***ing cluster episodes that? They must not realize that I am a woman. I have tried to tell them that they have the wrong person and that I have a v**ina, but they just won't listen.

Tony is so ill-informed it's not funny.  I am a woman, and it is because of this ridiculous prejudice that "only men" get clusters that mine were misdiagnosed for so long.  Yet when I showed up in the ER with a swollen red eye, nose running like a faucet, face partially slumped, screaming in pain, the young doc on board wasn't a sexist and looked up what was happening.  Sent me to a neuro the next day, who also wasn't a sexist.  I guess that it's not possible I have degrees in geology (a man's world, too), and law (mostly men in my class).   Wonder how I poppd out that 10-pound baby 18 years ago if I'm not a woman?  Amaazing.
