Kudzu advice
Mar 22nd, 2013 at 3:22pm

Hey.

After reading here about people using kudzu for CH, I decided to give it a try. I'm currently not in cycle but I'm never really PF (and formally diagnosed as CCH).

I asked my Chinese doc to prescribe Ge Gen (the Chinese name for kudzu) to me and he gave me a "formula" rich in Kudzu with some other herbs.

My question:

a. have any of you tried using kudzu this way?
b. does anyone know what the proper dosage is?

It has been several years since this was an active topic, may even be old as he former board program. May be worth search whatever archives you can locate here.

Hello,

I tried this about five years ago (while in the P.R.C.) as a strong tea. Darker than regular green tea but not as dark as say.  coffee. Drank about four,- five eight oz. cups/day.

Did nothing for my CH cycles/attacks, but think it did have a moderate effect on BP. ( not sure, and haven't examined the mechanism(s)) of action.

Wouldn't it be great if we could successfully treat CH by going out in the back yard and pulling a couple vines off a tree? At least you all down in Dixie could do so....

Several years ago I used Kudzu very successfully for about 2 1/2 yrs.  I used a brand that has a certified 613 mg of active ingredient 3 times a day.  When in high cycle (also chronic) I would add an extra capsule at night before going to bed.  Unfortunately, I let my Dr talk me into trying a regular med instead that did not work, and when I went back to the Kudzu I did not get good results from it.  I have been considering trying it again to see if it will work once more.  Vit D3 is the only thing I'm using right now, and I'm getting about 75% results from it.  Maybe Kudzu would take up the slack.

Thank you guys for sharing.

I think this should be investigated further. If I come up with new info I'll share it here.

From my l experience with Kudzu I had high hopes but boy oh boy did it make my tummy one unhappy camper. um even at the lowest dose I bloated out like Violet in Willy Wonka. In desperation in cluster cycles I had given it a few more tries but had the same uncomfortable result. So It may just be that I have a digestive intolerance issue with it. No luck with Kudzu otherwise personally for my headaches. -Stella
