Hi, from Long Island, NY

Hi all,

I have had CH (chronic) for about 3 years now. Though I think I have had them before. I also have had Migraines since childhood that have come and gone, but, I do remember some periods of headache were far worse than others. Currently I live in Malverne, NY; thou I am originally from Brooklyn & I work in Mineola. I am 37 years old, single, never married, no kids.

Mine have hit daily for 17-22 min like clock work at near the same time every morning for the last 2.5 years - an average of 17/50 days in a row with no more than 3 day off. Only ever had one that lasted longer 1 hr 20+ min - and occasionally when severely stressed I get an extra 20 min visit in the afternoon. Always on the right side. I have a near constant low-level headache, and I get full blown Migraines w/ Alice as my main aura. I have Maxault for this. and I am trying homeopathy. I am still trying to find a good preventative med, but after my experience w/ Topamax (still have short term memory issues & an occasional stutter) I am content to live with it as is ... for now.

So, Just want to say Hi! to my fellow sufferers, and those who despite our best grouching still allow us into their company, and in most cases still love us. And I also want to say thank you for this forum, I have read it for the last year, it's been a big help, so I finally decided to register and be a part of things.

Welcome to the site, Falcon. Since you have been reading here for over a year then you know (based on what you've posted) you are just scratching the surface of what we have found to be effective in treating CHs. Verapamil, O2, Vitamin D3 regimen, lithium, prednisone, energy drinks, etc. These are all possible avenues of helping you cope daily. There is no need to leave the pain untreated because you had a bad experience with Topomax. Hang in there and ask any questions you may have. Blessings. lance

Falcon,

Welcome! I feel very similar to you. Spent a lot of time on the site and very little time participating. Personally I am a little more interested in the people than the treatments, but once a cycle starts I think that may change. If you are curious in scientific research on clusters, Mike NZ has compiled a great deal of information that I'm sure he would love to share with you, but I know if you are anything like me you are interested in being introduced to people who understand and have experienced what you go through weekly. Blessings.
