Methylprednisolone advice needed
Apr 18th, 2013 at 5:39pm

Hi all. I'm currently on a 12 week cycle of 2-4 hits a day. Normally I have one 6-8 week cycle of 1-3 hits a day per year with sporadic shorter cycles throughout the rest of the year.

I'm aborting with imtrex 2mg and or energy drinks. For prevention, I stopped the verapamil and started Batchs anitflammatory regimen 5days ago (upped D3 to 20000 iu's to load dose).

Asked my Neuro for Prednisone taper with dosage starting at 80mg. Instead got Methylprednisolone starting at 24mg down to 4mg on 6th day. Is this dosage too light
to be effective???

Should I even try it ??? As my history suggests cycle should have already been over. Don't want to start another one.

The directions say to spread the 4mg tablets throughout the day. I'm quite the insomniac so can I take entire days dose in the morning?

I would appreciate your advice. Trust you all more than doctors.

Thanks, Eric

Methylpred is a lot stronger than regular pred.  What you have is a Dosepack.  When I took the 6 tabs the first day it would immediatly stop the attacks but they would return as I neared the 5th day.  My Doc told me to take all the tabs for the day at the same time.  Good for short term (4 or 5 day) relief.

Thanks Bob your experience is helpful. I was able to find a corticosteriod converter in one of Batchs post.

It works out to 24mg of methylpred. = 30mg prednisone.

Some on here have stated no relief till they were at 80mg of prednisone. But it sounds like you had some relief on the methylpred. dosage i was given. Even if its only 4 to 5 days, and who knows maybe D3 regimen will have kicked in by then.
