My last visit to the Nuero has resulted in O2 and Imitrex injections. Of course I am fighting my "insurance" company on the O2. They want to charge me $120 a month!? Well, that is not going to happen. I will have to work something else out on that matter. Though the severity and frequency has gone down substantially. The first CH in a week happened earlier today...

Anyhow, words can not express my gratitude for you folks that put this website together, and everyone that posts. Sharing your stories, your awesome since of humors, and advice has helped me through this difficult time tremendously.

I don't have insurance and called Walgreens they say it would cost $395/month including everything (refills, equipment lease, delivery) to supply me with O2.  

Also, they said that they didn't know of any company that was allowed to work with public (non-licensed parties for this kind of stuff) to refill O2.

Years ago, before Walgreens bought out my local provider I used to have two M tanks with a Y so I could run two regulators, plus I had 8 E tanks.  Because my ins didn't cover it I had to pay out of pocket, but they gave me a real good price, actually below what they charged the Ins co.  Problem is now that Walgreens doesn't carry higher than a 15 lpm regulator, and they won't allow a Y or for me to use my own reg, so I've been without for some time now.

Try to find a small independent company that will work with you.  You can probably do better than you think you can.  If you can't make that work buy a welding tank and go on your own.  Same stuff, different tank.  Works the same, and usually less expensive.

This is a thread I put together to make it easier for folks without insurance to get set up with o2. Don't get discouraged as there is alot of info there but most of it is how to set up the system with 20 feet of hose so you can walk around while using the o2 it is alot easier than it sounds but the real simple method is the "Hose Barb Method" at the bottom of my first post and all you have to do is buy or rent the welders tanks that you need (See Tank chart) and get a welders regulator, hook a hose barb to it and connect the medical tube with your mask and your in business. I would suggest reading my whole first post to educate yourself on the system. Be sure that when getting the tanks that you tell them (IF ASKED) you are a welder or learning to weld and don't tell them you are using it to breath or they won't give it to you. If you have any questions I would be happy to help you get set up if you chose to try this method. It really puts out high flow o2 as high as you'll ever need (25 lpm) and works wonderfully on kickin a CH's ass! This system has been used for years without any problems and is a safe method...
