Going Vegetarian
May 22nd, 2013 at 11:26am

I'm not doing it to try and help my cluster headaches, I'm doing it because I have a moral issue with it.

I've been able to compartmentalize my life enough to deal with the occasional burger from McDonalds or chicken at home, but recently I can't do that anymore.
Anywho, got any advice for me or any neat recipes that I can try?

Easiest thing I have ever done.  There are many good recipe sites on the web for vegetarian meals.

Unfortunately, it will not do a damn thing to help ch.  I have been getting slammed daily and haven't ate meat in 2.5 years

Good luck to you

Beth

Yeah after my diagnosis I cut red meat out of my diet (except for the occasional bison burger. I love me some bison) and it didn't help a bit.

My sister is a vegetarian and I'm hoping the transition is as easy as she says it was.

Once the decision is made (and it helps to have a moral reason) is generally pretty easy. There are lots of recipes online and even WalMart carries veg "meat" products. As long as you go in knowing the veggie burger won't taste like a meat burger, you can enjoy it for its own merits. I did it for over 6 years, and enjoyed the food a lot.

the thing is, I don't really want to eat meat or something that tastes like meat. I'm sure I can find recipes for this sort of thing.

I pretty much stopped eating processed meats and foods after I was diagnosed. We have an active farmers' market where I live, so I was able to get good free ranged chicken (I basically stopped eating red meat, except for bison which came from a farm locally).

For you guys who enjoy a good laugh, checkout Thug Kitchen. It's got some great recipes that great humor.

I stopped eating meat about a year after I developed CH... around 20 years ago.  No effect one way or the other on the CH.

That said, I do not eat any more or less healthy than I did before.  I would quickly starve to death without delicious processed foods.

I only eat red meat and free range chicken once a week. The
rest of the time is made up of pasta's, curry, fish, ect. I only
stopped eating processed foods during my last cycle."Gee i do
miss my Sunday breakfast, Sausage, Bacon, and Egg's." But
not as much as my CH. Were Nitrates to blame,? I don't know.
