Cluster headaches and nausea
Jun 1st, 2013 at 12:17pm

I have CH and get the nausea of a migraine sufferer. I diagnosed my sister years ago who suffers from migraines, and who has since sought medical treatment.  I have CH, but I do get nauseated. That's  one way i sometimes get relief from the headaches, at times. Each attack is unique and i use various methods to get relief.

I have had CH since I was a child.  Back then, I would vomit at the end of every attack.  I always knew that once I did, it would soon be over.

I don't know if it was the pain that made me vomit or if it was something to do with what goes on in the gut with serotonin or whatever.  For me though, it was always a part of my CH.   Now it only happens if I let one get away from me.  Usually, O2 takes care of it before I get to that point.

I've experienced nausea before from a cluster attack, usually the more intense the pain the worse the nausea. However, I've had plenty of attacks where I wasn't nauseous. Strange things, these clusters are Huh

Nausea and vomiting is a strange thing with CH. Sometimes the nausea's unbearable until you throw up, right before the Beast leaves. Sometimes nausea's the farthest thing from your mind. For me, nausea is rare, but I've had it.

I have been episodic for the last 11 years.  I have vomited (2) times.  One of them was  last week.  IT happened during the worst attack I have had during this cycle.  (yet)

Yep, same here. I have that feeling for most of my CHs, and if I haven't eaten anything when I get them, it's always worse.

The one thing I do want to ask about is this- last night was the first time in hundreds, maybe thousands of episodes that I got nauseated.  Why did this happen?  I am not an up-chucker, haven't thrown up in probably 20 years, but last night I sat hunched over the toilet dry heaving until my guts hurt.  I know this isn't normal, and especially for me.  Any ideas?

Thought this thread would be of some interest to you
and Maz.

I'm feeling like the above now, not related to CH but to
much vino. Smiley

I've actually vomited a few times. None this cycle though.  Last year and like 3 years before that I was getting hit really really bad like 10-12 a day.  Some days I'd get fewer but they would be way more intense and extremely long.  I'd only have like 2 or 3 but they were usually so intense that I would throw up which sucked.  Unlike the person above who said they ended at that time mine did not.  It was always the worst ones I have ever experienced that I threw up.
