Imitrex generic without insurance SAVINGs / COUPON
Jun 5th, 2013 at 11:30am

Just want to share this with people who have prescription for imitrex injections BUT whose insurance doesn't cover imitrex injections well or people who do not have insurance

I don't have insurance and I saved a ton of money but getting/printing a COUPON for sumatriptan (generic imitrex) injections OR spray (if it works for you) and bringing it to my local pharmacy.

Examples of how much I paid at walgreens pharmacy:

$114.90 with coupon for 1 box of 6 nasal 20mg sprays
$177 with coupon for 1 box of 5 vials 6mg
$75 with coupon for 1 box of 2 auto-injector pens 6mg

I tried a ton of Rx discount cards but those take off $20-$40 only, which is just a tiny fraction of what you can save with a coupon.

Go to
GoodRx.com

enter imitrex in drug field and your location
get the results

The results you get probably will be for tablets. So...

FOR INJECTIONS in vial form

On the left side of the screen you can click "Vial" as form of the drug. On the left side of the screen, also check "sumatriptan". You should get the results for 10 vials of sumatriptan. Look for the cheapest coupon amount and will show you the pharmacy to go to.

The box comes with 5 and if you bring this coupon to the pharmacy, it will work for the box of 5 (the coupon price will just be CUT in HALF) although the coupon specifically says it is for 10 vials.

FOR AUTO-INJECTOR PENS
On the top left conner in "Find drug prices" tab enter "sumatriptan statdose" and you should see coupons for 2 boxes of 2 auto-injector pens each.  I think if you bring that coupon in and use it only for one box it should work as it works with vial form.

Alternatively, click on "Kit" as form on the left side and you should see the coupons for 1 box of 2 auto-injector pens at 6 mg. I used this one.  But you can bring both coupons to your pharmacist and ask them to try which one gives a bigger discount.  I did that for a few other prescriptions.  It is embarrassing as it creates a line behind you but you gotta do what you gotta do if the medicine is SO-O-O expensive.

FOR NASAL SPRAY

On the left side click "sumatriptan" and click "box" as a form and you'll see the coupons.

Hope this post helps someone save $$$
I wonder if this is a good deal even for people with insurance.
