This week has been crazy to say the least.  The topamax kicked in full force on Saturday.  No headaches but it stole my husband's brain.  He could not function.  He stopped taking it but it took until yesterday for him to return to "normal".  He started a prednisone taper 2 days ago.  No headaches since.  Hoping that perhaps the d3 has kicked in since it has been in his system the longest.  Not sure what to think since there was so much going on.  Topamax was a nightmare!  Thankful to have my husband back!

Make the best of the break. Get some sleep, enjoy some real life stuff and be prepared for later.

Hubby is still pain free.  Prednisone taper ends on Tuesday so then maybe we will know something.  Am praying he stays pain free.  He is feeling wonderful now and very hopeful.  Still doing the d3.  For those who the prednisone taper has given a break from the cluster headaches, after it is stopped, how soon do the headaches return?  Again, hoping they are in remission!

Yeah, that's been my experience, too. In fact, they pretty much started up again for me once I hit 20mg on the way down.

Well then it might be a good sign that he is feeling better and better.  Taper ends Tuesday! But as always will keep a watchful eye on him!

Many people start getting their clusters when the dosage is dropped below a certain level, but if you are already almost done with the taper and the headaches still haven't come back then there is a chance the cycle was either broken or ended naturally. Wouldn't bet on it, but I have had the same thing happen to me a few times so i wouldn't be completely unheard of.
