4th of July got me bummed out
Jul 4th, 2013 at 5:08am

So for some or many this may not be a big deal but this year its kind of bothering me.  I hate so much that my CH cycle always starts right in the beginning of summer.  I'm 27 and haven't been able to have a nice summer day of hangin with my buds, kickin back enjoying some brews.  Usually it never bothers me but since I was 18 all summer June-October I'm hit all the time.  I don't ever drink or anything so I'm used to it but its been about 10 years and now its getting to me Angry  I know its not a really big problem or anything but, its annoying being a young guy and not being able to do any of that, I wanna play beer pong to!!!

Anyone else go through that around my age or even if your older going to family barbecues and things or weddings and not being able to partake on any fine beverages cause you know you'll pay for it severely?

Everyone have a good 4th and hopefully no headaches.  I just needed to rant about that and this is the only place I can do it.

In addition to the pain, what you describe is for me the other worst thing this beast brings to the party...no party. And by that I mean I can't even plan for certain that I'll be able to sit through an entire movie without having to duck out and take the beast for a walk. It's one of those things I can't change, and so pray for serenity to "accept" and deal with. I go wherever I go fully armed to battle the beast and that at least gives me some confidence. Life is restricted, not ended. blessings. lance

I HATED how it affected my family in the early years. In the 80's all I had was Firorinal and Lidocaine nasal drops for pain, Midrin for my prevent...needless to say it was a pretty pathetic arsenal against beasty and he regularly had his way with me. The family parties, kids events, date nights with wife that I missed...that just sucked.

Flash forward to the present! I'm over 3 years pain free on the D-3 regimen after well over 30 years of episodic. Prior to that the discovery  of oxygen, imitrex injectables, and lithium as my prevent had given me some semblance of control over the beast to where he was no longer the master.

It's a tremendous frustration when the beast takes over periods of our life we can never get back. I hear ya, it's just a pisser.

"Somebody had to say it" is usually a piss poor excuse to be mean.

Joe is spot on in how it impacts family and friends. Just not being able to predict things like arranging to go out on a certain night, etc. as you just don't know if you'll be fine or not is just another impact of CH.

What is vital is to get on top of CH as much as you can, however for those who can't have a drink when so much of social life revolves around it and it is a trigger for them it really can be tough, especially for those who are in their 20s and 30s.
