My neuro told me this:
Apart from cluster headache, there is a condition called paroxysmal hemicrania. They are VERY similar and the only way to tell which you have is by process of elimination. Indometicin will work like magic for PH, but won't touch CH.

That's how I knew mine was CH. Sumatriptan auto injections, among other things, are for CH, and they work for me every time. Completely pain free in 5 - 7 mins. There are many other treatments that work for a lot of people. You already have the D3 regimen, so check out threads on oxygen (link on the left of your screen), energy drinks and many more.

Read all you can on these boards. We know more about headaches than most doctors and above all, we listen and we care.

Try the indometicin and if it doesn't work at least you can cross it off your list of possibilities. Let us know how you get on. Good luck.

Yes sorry, I should have said it was given to me as an abortive. I was only ever offered one preventative (can't remember what it was called)and the side effects were so horrific that I didn't take it. My CH is episodic and it seemed wrong to take something so bad, all the time, when I could take an abortive that worked quickly just when needed. However, indomethacin may work as a preventative too so it's worth a try. I was told it's very hard on the stomach though so I was given omeprozol to take with it.

I haven't used the indomethacin yet, so I won't... I have doubts about it anyway for CH.

You are right about not knowing which of the other two works if they do. I started verapamil and D3 at the same time two weeks ago, and am starting to see results so I will talk with my doctor about what is next.
