Ghowriter returns
Aug 23rd, 2013 at 12:34am

Greetings folks, ghowriter here and I am back. After a six-year break the demon has returned and with a vengeance. One never forgets the hell of the cluster headache but to experience one again after so long, I swear the pain is much worse.

The cycle started Saturday, August 17th and is in full swing already. I had a major sinus infection just before the cycle started and, coincidence or not, began right after finishing the antibiotics.

I've dug out the old ice packs from the iced up freezer though I don't feel they're as effective as they used to be. My wife is making her Chinese tea religiously which I am drinking like a fiend hoping it will break the cycle.

This morning I had an unusual thing happen. An attack was coming and I was icing my head in attempt to dull the pain. Just when the attack reached full bore, it simply vanished. It didn't fade out as they're wont to do. I was simply gone. I have never had something like this happen during an attack. Never. It was relief, to be sure, but it does scare me more than another attack. I have to wonder if it was something I did.

For those who don't know me, my name is Wayne. I live in Port Angeles, WA and I have been a sufferer of the cluster headache since my teens. I am 43 years old. I was cluster-free for six long blessed years. My attacks occur randomly - never on a schedule - but in a cycle lasting 4-8 weeks - at least they used to. My attacks affect the right side only.

At any rate I am back. My heartfelt sympathies to all the fellow sufferers.

Wow, I found my old posts...

Link removed, see below.

I don't recall deleting them though. Must have been what I like to call one of my "idiot" moments wherein I do the most idiotic things.

Seems I am not allowed to post active links so I had to remove it... search Ghostwriter's Chinese Brew if you're curious.

For the record though, no one made me leave the site. I have been lurking and reading posts for years. I just stopped posting, then stopped logging in. But I have been here reading posts.

Hi ghowriter, welcome back, but sorry you had to find us again.

Mine are completely random too - never know when the damn thing will strike. Winter, summer, hot, cold, day, night, makes no difference. But once it starts then I can set the clock by it, to the minute. It's uncanny.

I can't post a link (computer dunce) but have a look at Batch's vitamin D3 regimen.
It's taken the CH world by storm. It's hard to tell if it's working for me or whether I'm just in remission, but my last episode was fairly  mild and seemed to be cut short within a few days of starting the D3. You'll find links to it all over these boards if you have a look. Even without the CH it's good for you so well worth a try. Loads of people have become completely pain free with it. It has better than 80% success rate.

Good luck with it. Hope your episode is short.
