Hello !
Aug 23rd, 2013 at 9:52am

Hi everyone ,

My name is Miguel, I'm 35 and I'm from Portugal .

CH's nightmare started in 1997 however only correctly diagnosed in 2002. Usually had an attack every two to three days, some stronger and some lighter . 95% of attacks during the day .  All my right side is affected .
Until 2009 ( 12 years) never experienced any remission . The biggest pain free interval was 7 days .

In March 2009 started an acupuncture treatment with a Japanese Specialist and by June 09 my attacks started to fade away slowly .
By Sep. 09 I can say I was 100% pain free so only continued the acupunture until December of that year .
This break lasted until last month , July 2013 .
Coincidence or not 10 days before the attacks returned I had an infection in my throat that was treated with a strong antibiotic .
I really felt that antibiotic shaked my body as for days I didn't felt very well .

So now I have the beast back , first attacks felt like they were the strongest ever . Restarted the acupuncture and I'm really looking for the D3 regimen as explained here in the forum  . Will discuss with my Dr. this possibility very shortly.

Sorry for the long text and thanks for creating this comunity .
Miguel

I'm sorry that it has taken two-days for any of us to reply to you.

The main question is: do you have a doctor, who is skilledin treating headache, available to you?

Acupuncture has been mentioned for Cluster but I have not seen any evidence that it's a treatment which is broadly useful.

I'm going to guess that your doctors are conservative in their medical practice. If so, suggest you print out the PDF file, below. This presents the most widely used meds for Cluster. Most doctors will be using items from this list.

Yes , I'm being followed by a neurologist with quite some years of experience .

Yes, I've read the same opinion quite some times already .
However unless my CH entered in remission, by coincidence, at  the same time I did acupuncture in 2009 I have to consider it as the
biggest help ( non-med) I had so far . The last 4 years PF were the first break I ever had since the start of my CH .
All the prevention medication tried before never really worked for me .

Thanks! Had it already from another user that PM me with a few docs .
I have an appointment coming shortly with my Dr and will discuss all the new info I have now .
Big thanks for all the info shared .

Another possibility to discuss with your doctor. When the standard meds for Cluster do not work, it's possible that you have a Cluster-LIKE disorder. These are conditions which are unrelated to primary headache disorders but which appear to be Clusters; some are quite serious.

Suggest you print this material and give to your doctor.
