Ok, I done it!
Aug 29th, 2013 at 7:31am

Got in the 21st century at last.

Yesterday I got me a SMARTphone. A Galaxy -3 (looked at the 4 but the 3 had a bigger screen).

Now all I've got to do is learn to work the darn thing.  Tongue

I think I've almost learned to ANSWER it (took me four tries, but I think I have that down now) and I did learn to TEXT (never did that before, but actually got one thru).

Now you young twirps may think this is funny and it's an everyday thing to ya'll, but to me it's a big deal. All I've ever done on a cell phone is answer and hang up. And that's 20 years of having a cell phone. (I've only had three of them and none of them ever did anything but answer and hang up). So this is a BIG step for me.

Wish me luck as I move into the BIG time in electronics..  Kiss

I have to chuckle a bit. I was a very early adopter of bleeding edge technology and now I'm going the other way. The iPhone is gone, and the ruggedized, totally water proof flip phone is in my pocket. (OK, it has GPS Smiley )

Yes, it was great checking my shop and home security cams anytime I wanted. Instant information (of any kind) was always within reach - while Skypeing with the Grandkids - and texting quotes to customers - while checking how my batteries are performing on the Bear Cam's in Alaska and the Orca Cams of Victoria Island. (Today's app's are really quite impressive)

Now I find that I spend a lot more, real, high quality face time with the people that I really care about the most - with a lot less distractions on my end. People's eyes will always tell you what is going on inside, but you have to look.

If someone needs me, they can call me. If I don't answer, they can leave a message and I can call back. I'm an accomplished multitasker, but  I really like to focus my attention on the person that I am with.

Barb, you are going to have a ball when you get into it!

It's a good phone, just don't drop it as they don't bounce too well. So get a good case with a screen protector and it'll do just fine. Also get used to needing to charge it quite often, especially if you leave the wifi enabled.

I've got the same phone, so any questions, just ask.

I had to go back to the Chevy dealer yesterday to get the Bluetooth hooked up. But it's working now. And they programed my contacts in it, but forgot to show me how to get to them..(in the Bluetooth in my car). Oh well... guess I'll go figure that one out - got a manual in the car on that).

Today I'm going to try to learn to upload pictures from it so Ya'll may get some pictures of my dogs (if I figure it out -  Smiley).

this thing does everything but wash dishes..

And Mark I'm with you.. I still like the one on one.. I still have a HOUSE phone and talk to people.

and Mike, I've got a charger that I keep plugged in for my Kindle so it's got something in it all the time. Phone, or one of the Kindles. And the Wi-Fi does drain the battery real quick - found that out real fast.

But I'm going to MASTER this thing .. you heard it here FIRST.. LOL..

Today I'm learning to upload pictures from the camera.. Hope this comes thru. I've worked all day to get this done. My son gave me directions over the weekend. I've got to learn to do this for some reports I do.  We'll see what happens. Fingers crossed.

If it comes thru.. these are two of my little darlings.. Sarge (the Pit/Mastiff) and Brownie (the Cass County Yard Dog). Sarge is the one laying against the house, but they were both smiling for the camera. Daisy wouldn't stand still...  Cry
