I'm back again with a new name and info!

Hey everyone, I'm sorry to see so many here and I was here for a long time but things have happened since my last visit. My clusters started in 1989, I had my sinuses cleaned out and I did all the allergy meds and tests and nothing was working. Finally I got a referral to see a neurologist and I was diagnosed with episodic cluster headaches. I would get them 45 minutes after falling asleep and while I had a bout any beer would set one off while awake. I lived with this for a long time, prednisone worked to break the cylcle but the abortives, that is where I had trouble as imitrex was causing chest pain. Maxalt sub lingual sometimes help but that too was hit and miss until 2008. I was diagnosed with cancer and while going through chemo I began having the clusters, during my chemo they would inject Benadryl into me to prevent any reaction and it made me tired and while falling asleep the familiar discomfort in the left side of the head came back, I suffered for only a day and the neuro prescribed me Oxygen since I could take other meds with the chemo and thank God it worked but since the chemo and radiation have ended it seems my attacks have subsided, for now anyway. I just wanted to let you know that I'm listing a doctor here that helped me out so anyone in the PA area may be able to get help should they needed.

Hi Small ... your post brought to mind a (somewhat) funny story that I hope you can appreciate.

My sis, whom we lost two years ago to Lukemia, was sent to St. Louis (she was from Memphis) for her Marrow and T-cell transplants. She was the most gracious patient I've ever seen ... never complained through all of it. Anyway, on her first night in St. Louis at the cancer center, the (gay-male) nurse came in and asked if she needed anything. She said .. "well, I do have a little bit of a headache .. is there anyway I could maybe get a Tylenol or something?" .. to which he replied by putting his hand on his hip and said "oh Honey .. welcome to Candy-Land"! I lmao every time I think of it.

Hope you've beat the Big C and blessings in your battle with CH.

Red

P.S. I was not being disrespectful to gays, but you had to know that fact to get the accurate picture ... "welcome to Candy-Land ... you can have whatever you want Honey"! LMAO
