Hi I was wondering if anyone has had Botox shots for cluster headaches. I am tempted to try it before starting any surgery. I have tried many medicines I have used oxygen that works but I get 3-5 attacks a day. I also use sumaville dosepro shot the needless injection. That works for a few hours and it is right back. I have done shot in the front of the head the side of the head and also the back. They worked 2 times after that it stopped working. So I am curious now about Botox shots in the head for the cluster headaches. Thanks.

Before you make any judgments, review the meds outlined in the PDF file, below. Look for the meds you have used. Have you used the doses recommended? IF NOT, then the starting point is to work with your doc to make changes.

IF you have used preventive and abortive meds in the correct doses, THEN take a look at:

Link to: cluster-LIKE headache:

IN: "Medications, Treatments, Therapies --> "Important Topics" --> "Cluster-LIKE headache".

Why read this? IF the usual meds for Cluster do not work or only work for a very short time, it's possible that you do not have Cluster. This material should then be printed and given to your doc.

Hi,

About a week ago, a medical trial started here in Norway with botox injected in the brain for CH.
A doctor, Daniel Bratbak, and scientist Erling Tronvik has developed a tool that injects botox through the nose and in, or actually around a nerveknot that lies behind the "sinus jawbone". This is supposed to reduce the connection between nervecells, and ease the CH pain.
The effect is supposed to be from 3 to 8 months, then you need another injection.
The procedure takes about 30 min.
They started this medical trial because people has had good effect with paralyzing the nerves with electrisity. Since that is a rather big operation, they wanted to try botox.

10 people are in this study, and I heard an interview on the radio with one of them two days ago. She was a cronic sufferer, and she said she had not felt so good in years. No pain anymore.

This is a link to one of the many articles about this but since it is in Norwegian, it won't be of much help.

I apologize for the bad translation from the article, medical english is not my strongest side, but I just wanted to tell you that things are happening with botox and CH.
