Started GammaCore trial

I could have put this in the treatment section but I notice people come to this section most. I did my first treatment last night. The jury is still out but I'm curious as to whether this will work. Though I'm chronic I'm not nearly as bad off as many of you so in a good candidate for the device. With any luck it will work and provide relief for at least a good number of us. More to come.

I went to the first page of their website. Looks a bit like a contact taser with the nodes covered. Where do you put that, and how strong is the stimulus delivered? I do pray you will find it works for you, and that it is promising for the rest of us. Good luck, Mike, and God bless. lance

How did you get involved in the trial?  Is it open to all?

You put it on your throat on the carotid artery. If you go to clinicaltrials.gov, it is listed there. My doc in Philly is participating. There are 150 nationwide participants with 25 in his office. Seems to be pretty stringent standards, as it's been open a while and I"m only the 10th in his office, and this is a regional headache center (Jefferson Headache Center). It is a pretty strong electrical stimulus, and I only used it on a 3 out of 5 strength. I will do a 2nd treatment on my next hit, which I'm sure will be tonight, as they come every day. Not sure if this is a real or placebo, but I get a real device regardless next Wednesday and get to use it for 3 months. Pretty exciting stuff.

Since I was turned down to be a participant in this trial, do you think my old 85,000 volt STUN GUN straight on my carotid artery would help or kill ?? LOL ! J/K people ! I'd be out & on the floor in way less than the 90 seconds (X3) they want the VNS on you.

Hmmm...... Smiley .....  Wink

Hi Mike,
I just posted on the treatment side.  I am in the 1st phase, just finishing up.  No luck so far.  Tomorrow I get a guaranteed working device.  I would like to know if there is any way to tell if my 1st unit is a sham or real.  It feels like i'm getting a shock when I use it.  Anyway... good luck to you

My first one was a sham. I could tell because the 2nd one was completely different in how it felt when I applied it. You'll know the difference, if there is one. Good luck. The real device has been very beneficial and has been working nearly every time I used it (1 time it didn't work, but may not have been a CH attack). And it works within 15 minutes of application. Of course, I"m probably in the "sweet spot" of sufferers. I'm bad enough, but not as bad as many on this site, so the device is effective on me.
