I'm back and out of remission but........
Mar 6th, 2014 at 12:19pm

I am back guys and gals, and sadly to report.....out of remission. About 2 weeks ago I began to get the headaches again ( about a 2 -5 ) and was praying that they weren't coming back. Wishful thinking right? Anyhow, some time back (when I was PF) I bought some D3 for future cycles. Yesterday, I took my first dose. I took 4000iu (2 pills), but wasn't sure of the recommended dose. So I came back here and was reading up on Batch's original post on it. I believe that he said he started with 15000iu's. That seemed high. So I took to more to bring me to 8000iu's for the day. A few hours later, here it comes. I braced myself for the impending pain that was surely to come. It never did. It barely got out of the "tingling sensation" stage. I've had shadows before that were worse. Could this be?

I awoke this morning in about the same pain as last night. Ugh! I reached for the bottle to get my 8000iu's for the day and headed to the bathroom. About the time it took to smoke half a cigarette.....the pain was COMPLETELY gone! I am only taking D3 for the CH. I take some magnesium, calcium, and a daily vitamin as well, but have only just started taking the D3. I hope this isn't just coincidence, but I think that the D3 is the key. Is my dosage correct?

Here's a little info on me: Male/38, 5'8", 185ish, regular smoker, regular drinker(until the CH came back), Episodial, no drugs except for pot on occasions. The only thing I have stopped in my routine was taking sleep aides(dyphenhydramine sp*).

My question is: how much D3 is everyone else taking?

Hi, I'm taking 15,000 iu every day, and have done since june last year. When ever folks around me show signs of getting a cold or flu (frequently here in england) I take an extra 15,000 per day for a week to boost my immune system. I still have CH but cycles are shorter than they used to be. Haven't caught a cold or flu though.

It's important to get your blood tested as your levels have to be pretty high. Batch's posts explain everything.

Hope this helps

I am new to the D3 regimen and still "tuning" but so far my greatest success is with 20,000 iu/day in cycle and reduce to 15,000 iu/day out of cycle.

Ok, I just just hit with about a 6. Lasted about 25 minutes. I decided to up my D3 to 16000iu's/day. Was thinking about splitting the dose to 8000 twice daily. Earlier to day I got hit but it was minimal. Minutes ago, I would have never thought I took any. Do you guys take your D3 all at once or split it up?

This is the thread which will give you most of the information you will need--especially Batch's first post. He recommends that you take your D3 all at once with your heaviest meal of the day. D3 is a fat-soluble hormone, and you will absorb the most if you take it this way. It works well for me. Back in the fall I was taking 8000-10000 IU every day, went into remission for well over a month. Stopped D3 altogether and remained PF for weeks

Got hit a couple times in the interim between December and February, now I'm getting hit with 7-9 KIPLING headaches at least twice a day.  Undecided

Starting verapamil this week, fingers crossed...

Have you got a prednisione taper too? This can work as a short term preventive for the 10 days or so it takes the verapamil to build up to an effective dose?

And think about restarting the D3 and staying on it? It has been an amazing preventive for many of us (over 2 years pf for me).

Tim, take it all at once. D3 is fat soluble so take it with the fattiest meal of the day for best absorbsion. The fish oil suppliment helps with that. It's important to take the other suppliments too as they all need each other for best results and to avoid an imbalance. The blood test is to make sure the balance is OK.

I don't take any preventatives. I just have sumatriptan (imitrex) and oxygen as abortives. My cycles are usually months apart and I don't want to be taking drugs constantly, for ever. As long as I can take away the pain when it comes, I prefer to just use the drugs when I need them.
