Questions about new CH symptoms
Apr 19th, 2014 at 5:31am

Hi! I'm Jay, a chronic, and I've been on this site for over a decade now. Maybe even a few more years? I apologize for not posting more often.

I've had a good run in 2013-2014.. Went almost an entire year without hitting a cycle, but here it is.

I've got O2, nosespray (and some HRW seeds and scripts left over from last year), so i'm as prepared as I can get, other than a shroom garden.

I had a hardcore CH  today, one of the worst I can remember, and there were some new symptoms that were not typical of a cluster headache.

1) Cold sweat. Sweating like crazy. Drenched.

2) Hands were shaking. Even after the CH ended, my hands continued to spaz out.

3) Nausea. I know this is a symptom of migraines rather than clusters, but hey, it was there, for the first time.

4) Total loss of balance. Couldn't stand up or walk. (Ok, this one's typical)

5) Complete f*cking panic, for a good while.

My wife says I've had worse, and she knows better than I do. This  attack scared the shit out of both of us today.

I think maybe these were symptoms of shock, due to the level of pain involved.

My wife thinks I should see a neurologist, and it's hard to disagree with her after today's dramatic episode.

Thanks for any advice you may have, and thanks for being here.

Jay

Correction: "Chronic" was the wrong word, episodic is the right one. I should know better.

Severe pain can cause a lot of what you describe, even in the aftermath of a big time hit. So can other conditions. Your wife is right. Go see a neuro. You may have taken a walk on the really dark side of CHs and then again you may have stumbled onto the symptoms of something very different. Don't mess around, and let us know how you make out. blessings. lance

I agree with Lance, everything could have just been due to the effects of the CH but there is a chance that there might be another reason for the symptoms too. Get it checked out.
