Suffering badly but fighting
Nov 23rd, 2014 at 7:35pm

Well, I was PF for almost 2 years and all of a sudden about a month ago the monster reappeared, this time it seems at his strongest. My wife does all she can but it's tough. My life is on hold until this episode is over. I'm taking 4 imitrex injections a day and their effectiveness is wearing thin. I'm at a loss on how to break this cluster. I've been suffering for 14 years on and off its great to know there are people like all of you out there for support. Thanks for letting me vent as I breathe in my O2.

Hi James and welcome. It sounds like you're having a pretty tough time at the moment.

Are you working with a headache specialist to ensure you're getting the most effective treatment for you?

Using 4 imitrex injections a day is very high with it normally being restricted to just 2 a day. I'd discuss this with your doctor.

Good to see you're getting oxygen. Have you got a non-rebreather mask and are you using a high flow rate, ideally 15lpm or higher? Read up about how we use oxygen at Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register.

Are you using a preventive to cut down how many CHs you get? Something like verapamil, lithium or topomax? These can make a big difference to how many CH you actually get.

Have you read the posts here about how people are using vitamin D3 as a preventive? I'm just coming up towards 3 years CH pain free using this.

Keep reading and ask all the questions you can think of.

It will help us to direct you to good sources of assistance if you will tell us where you live (city & state, if U.S. or country). At the Home page: Help button-->Edit & Profile --> Location. (This will add your location, just below your name, every time you post a message.

A good history is most helpful so that we don't wander around offering suggestions which you may already tried.

1. You doc's experience treating headache; have you considered a headache specialist?
2. Meds you have used: name, dosing, duration of use, effects. (NOT, "I tried X and it didn't work" but, "used Y at x dose for y time with ..... result.")
