Hi all

My name is Johnny, I am from South-Africa. I had my first cluster the morning of my field trip at school, I was 15 years old. The day before we played a inter schools rugby game, one of the opponents elbow struck me right in the right eye socket. Can that be what started my cluster headaches? I went 3 months on grandpa headache powders and panados but the pain got to bad, I went to the doctor, he prescribed me some pills, they were small white and round. There was 10 pills, I needed to take 1 a day until it was finished. It started to work on the 2nd or 3rd day, I finished the pills and was pain free for about 2 years then it came back. Can anyone maybe give me an idea what kind of pills those I were taking were? I can't remember and the doc I saw back then is not practising there anymore. I have been chronic for 10 years without any pain free years, days or months. Excuse my english somewhat, I am actually Afrikaans.

NO!, you need a through diagnostic work-up by a headache specialist. Based on your injury I would not assume you have Cluster.

There are many disorders which mimic Cluster but which are not headche problems. I have no impression about the quality lf medical care in your area but in the U.S. neurologists have very limited training in complex headache disorders. Therefore, encourage you to start looking for a doc with broad experience in headache.

Large hospitals usually have a social work office which can give you guidance on finding the doc you need.
