I'm back after over eleven years
Jan 21st, 2015 at 12:26pm

Hi all, I’m not a newbie however I lost my login info and had to reregister.

I have been a episodic cluster headache sufferer for over 30 years.

In the early 90’s I saw a Neurologist. They did some testing including a cat scan but mostly tried various meds, every couple weeks I would see the Dr. and he would change the med, none of them worked. I was in misery getting hit several times a day.

One day I was at a party and got hit, an acquaintance saw me leave the crowd and asked me if I had a headache, after I confirmed I did he said he had a book I should read. The section on “Cluster Headache” fit me like a glove. That book was where I found out about oxygen. The next hit I used the O2 I had at the shop. WOW !!! It reduced the pain on the first breath and it was gone completely within 5 minutes.

A few days later I asked my Dr. why he had not told me about or prescribed O2 when he knew I was suffering greatly. He said he had suspected cluster headaches but wanted to try all the meds first. I blew up called him a few choice words and left.

I treated all subsequent headaches with welders oxygen except when it’s not available like when flying somewhere.

Back in 2003 I had a particularly bad episode that lasted several months then on March 24th 2003 they stopped abruptly for over eleven years.

November 25th 2014 the beast returned. Oxygen still works great however I need something to prevent and something to abort when traveling.

After rejoining CH.com I read about Batch’s Vitim D3 regimen. January 6, 2015 I started the program. I was getting hit 6 or 7 times per day, as of 1/21/15 I’ve been PAIN FREE for 5 days.

I have to fly north for a few days, when I return I will post more details on the 123 Days PF

Imitrex (sumatriptan) injections are great for travelling. Small enought o carry in your pocket or in a small bag and easy to use. It comes in pill form too but that takes too long to work. The injections will abort the worst CH in a few minutes.

I have taken them to several other countries by plane and I took my prescription with me just in case, but never had a problem. I declared them as "drugs", and when asked, I just said it was prescription medication and every thing was fine.

After having the injections with me in my hand baggage on over 200 flights, I've never once been asked about them even though they will have shown up on the x-ray checks. The only CH related question I've ever had was when taking an oxygen regulator in my hand baggage. The security people wanted to know what the big lump of metal was and then just wanted to confirm that I wasn't flying with any oxygen cylinders.
