Years of tinnitus here too...genetics and poor hearing protection due to youthful indifference, ignorance, and lack of employer instruction. It worsens as I grow older...and tho same approximate
timing as ch (30+yrs ago)... have noticed nary a bit of connection. Others here have reported same....

Tinnitus has nothing to do with the outer ear--that portion which you can clean out, with anything.

Tinnitus arises from changs in the middle ear, quite sealed off from the big world.

Hobby points to one of the major causes of tinnitus--exposre to loud noise levels for years or to one time exposure to, e.g., an explosion. People work in a high noise factory, for example, and don't use ear protection have a high risk or developing both tinnitus and hearing loss in mid-life.

A number of medicines can cause it, also. Normal aging is a common source due to deterioration of the nerves in the middle ear which responsible for changing sound waves into nerve signals whichh are sent to our brain for processin into hearing.

Hobby, #8: yes, wax build-up can muffle your hearing and, in extreme cases, almost make you deaf.

Tinnitus is entirely a nerve generated issue. With age, the middle ear's nerve capacity to respond to sound tends to degenerate, changing our hearing capacity. In response, the brain  cells which turn sound waves into hearing actually create tinnitus (think of it as static on your radio) in an effort to replace the lost sound waves. (There are other sources of  this loss, as I mentioned earlier, but this is the most common origin of tinnitus.)

Yes, the number of people in their 30s who have lost some hearing can be traced to long exposure to the volume at rock concerts, etc.

Potential for loss is a combination of intensity and duration. And that makes the problem wide spread: working conditions, noisy machnes, gardnes who spend years on riding mowers, etc. High rates of loss from military folks exposured to battle field conditons, etc.

Wha makes the hearing loss more a problem is that about 60% of adults with diagnosed hearing loss refuse to use hearing aids. I suspect that figure is higher with younger adults with early onset tinnitus/hearing loss.

I have it occasionally, whether I'm in cycle or not, and when I do notice, it doesn't really bother me.

But during my last cycle (four years ago) there were times when a CH would wake me and I could hear inside my head a very audible "dink" on the same side as I get the headache. This would be followed by a high pitched "whine" that over some five to ten seconds kept increasing in pitch until it dropped out of hearing at the high end of my perception. At the same time the pain of the CH would ramp up to full steam.

This was nothing my wife ever heard while sleeping right next to me and she's a light sleeper, so it probably was all "in my head."

Wearing glasses is all part and parcel of life, from the
very young, middle age, and the elderly, including sun
glasses, making a fashion statement, the same can't
be said about hearing aids! I for one would feel
uncomfortable having to were a hearing aid when
out and about. I also think vanity plays a part in this.

That's an interesting question. I wonder what views Batch might have on whether D3 can effect Tinnitus noise patterns.
