They have different causes, but both effect the trigeminal nerve which is where all the pain comes from. CH is often misdiagnosed and I believed I had trigeminal neuralgia for several years. I believe they are both caused by a dilated blood vessel which presses on the trigeminal nerve - but in different places.

I had asked for the surgery because I couldn't take any more, and it was the actual surgeon who diagnose CH. So no need for surgery. It's taken a long time to get to the right place with it, but he did put me on the right road.

It is very possible to have more than one headache type at the same time (I don't envy you). How do you know which one you are dealing with at any given time, so you know which meds to take ? Have you tried the vitamin D3 regime which helps all headache types.
