Well I've been the CLAW free for 5 yrs. almost to the month. I'm feeling all the wrong things happening to my head. the little neck tightening the blood pressure is rising tinges to the front of my head. I know it's coming and not looking forward to the length it will be this time. Got my neurologist appt. lined up for this round before it gets to bad.   So what i was wondering is there anything new out there that is good and different  for this round for the CLAW ward off or is it still the IMatrex and TOPAMAX

I also been free of CH for five years, Smiley The last time I had CH I read a post, don't remember where? But it was a home remedy - Drink a can of cold Pepsi as fast as you can! IT WORKED (no meds) I just started with a new cycle of CH and tried the Pepsi again and it gets rid of my CH faster than any meds within a few minuets. Has any one else experienced this with Pepsi? Note: I do not regularly drink pop.

not that but I would drink a cup of coffee hot as fast as I could at the on set of a ch and it would stop it in 5 minutes or so.

An interesting set of comments so far...

I've found several gulps of ice-cold water or cola, with or without sugar, has similar effects... particularly if accompanied with a single ice cube wrapped in a wet paper towel and placed in the top of the head just off center on the hit side of the head, on a line even with the front of the ear...

Of course, inhaling oxygen at flow rates that support hyperventilation also helps.

What I'm saying is simple... convincing the brain that the body is experiencing hypothermia... triggers vasoconstriction of the arteries and capillaries in and around the brain including the trigeminal ganglion as part of the abortive mechanism for CH.

Hypothermia triggers the body to conserve body heat by constricting arteries and capillaries about the peripheral... including the head and brain in order to maintain core body temperatures in a safe range.

Accordingly, triggering the body into defense against hypothermia is beneficial to CH'ers.

Your thoughts...

Take care,

V/R, Batch

You love lots of things if you live around them. But there isn't any woman and there isn't any horse, that’s as lovely as a great airplane. If it's a beautiful fighter, your heart will be ever there

Sorry to read you are back in pain and suffering after 5 years remission.  Lots of fantastic new medical help available. Specifically, the D3 vitamin regimen that Batch wrote of.

Hang in there, you are not alone, we are understanding and able to help you through this!
