South Africa

Good Morning, my name is Dave and I would be interested to know if any of the members hail from South Africa. I specifically would like to know if the drug Imitrex (not certain of the spelling) is available in South Africa or what equivalent may be available here as it is a medication I have not tried yet I am also curious about its effectiveness.

I look forward to a reply.
Dave

Hi Dave and welcome,
Sumatriptan! Known as Imigran in the UK and Imitrex
in the USA. The auto injectors will abort an attack in
about 5mins, check with your doctor, they could come
under a different brand name in South Africa.

Cheers, Hoppy.

Hi Dave and welcome

Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register

That page has good info on what sumatriptan, which is the generic name for the drug, is known as around the world.

For South Africa it has:
  • Sumatriptan
  • Imigen
  • Imigran
  • Migrex

But check with a pharmacist, they should be able to work out what forms is available from the generic name.

Hi Dave,
On the left of your screen (blue tab just under oxygen info) is a tab called "where we live".  Have a look there and you may find others who live near to you. They may be able to help you out with info on doctors, meds etc, or just be a friendly face who understands, when you need one.
Maz.
