Another part of the rivalry is between the respective national airlines, with the airline from the losing country being challenged to repaint a jet after a friendly feud on Twitter - Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register.

Whilst they won't need to repaint their fleet of aircraft, Qantas crew will be decked out in All Blacks jerseys tomorrow.

Was a great game and a great result !
in fact overall it was a great advertisement for rugby !
There was only ever going to be one out come, sorry to say.

And re cauliflower ears and walking like a 90 year old,
Well,  I still have to get my left ear lobe drained every year or two and the neck issues are another story again.

Congrats to the Aussies for getting there and making it such a contest........
Now I can get back to a normal sleep pattern,   Oh, hang on, still got some F1 races left for the season   Shocked

Well, it's that time of the year again! The Melbourne Cup! The race that stops a nation. My thoughts this year are,

Fame Game.
Trip To Paris.
Who Shot Thebarman.
Preferment.

Roughies: Bondi Beach, Big Orange, Max Dynamite.

I shall be linking all these in a Quinella & Trifecta.

My hard earned will be on Trip To Paris to win the Cup.

Cheers, Smiley

Hoppy,

My Dad always told me to stay away from fast women and slow horses.

Did I listen.....yes, about the horses !

Except for Fame Game I couldn't agree more, and if it wasn't for the fact that
I've never picked a Melbourne Cup winner ever, not once in my life, I'd even be tempted to have a little wager.

As always it's on the first Tuesday in November and for the third year in a row we won't be bothered by the race that stops another nation, the US election, which is also commonly held on the first Tuesday in November.

Fair dinkum, they have no respect for priorities!

My favourite part of the day is always the "Fillies on the Field" fashion parade because the ladies really do look so lovely, though I'll never understand how they walk so beautifully on the grass in those high heels. As for the blokes, they should be hosed down with the horses.

Let the games begin!!!

My better half managed to come out ahead by $1.50 getting a place with the kiwi horse that came in third.

Mind you, she should have picked the kiwi horse that won with a jockey whose family hails from NZ.

It isn't just rugby that NZ rocks at Smiley

Ah, you must have changed your bet without mentioning it because your forecast was -

Fame Game (13th)

Trip to Paris (4th)

Who Shot the Barman (11th)

Preferment (20th)

Glad you did well and it was a sensational result. First jockette ever to win it and what a little darlin' she is.

We've just got to find a way to beat them Kiwis!

Brian, I mentioned Max Dynamite as one of my roughies, but could of been a different outcome if this didn't happen.
Ed Dunlop-trained Trip To Paris, who finished fourth in the Cup, has a less serious problem with his left hind leg bandaged after he was galloped on and lost a shoe during the race.

On the brighter side we're looking pretty good against the Kiwis in the cricket, though they'll immediately claim PTSD over that little incident 35 years ago.
