Living in ireland seems to be very hard to get some treatment For this horrible condition. I have suffered from CH since my early 20s , and now 35 they have got alot worse . Everytime i go to my doctor he either prescribes me migraine meds r synus meds + heavy pain killers , but never ever work. The last time i visited the doctor for an injection for the pain i asked him about oxygen , he laughed and said he had never precribed anyone oxygen for a headache, then after that told me he didnt want to give me the injection cause there was a smell of alcahol of my breath?????? Even thou i dont drink alcahol ??? I tried to explain to him it was the nasal spray i had been using just before i had came in. Once again told me that there was no nasle spray with this smell????????? This guy was a doctor?????? To be honest i just gave up on the gp's here. And now im just suffering tru every CH with just over the counter paracetomal and nasal sprays and hot showers. Its effecting my hole life, work , day to day things and most of all my family having to watch me go tru this most of the time. I have 2 kids under the age of 1 and because im alot of the time going tru CH or just tryin to deal with the after pain, im of little use to my partner has to try cope with them on her own. I can see that she is very tired and feel so bad for her having to deal with everthing all of the time, its very frustrating to watch her suffer from my problems....im at a dead end and im lookin for anyone around the world to help me sort this out , would just love to have a normal happy life with my family

Hey Glen,

Welcome to CH.com. I'm in Wexford and been suffering From Cluster Headaches since 2002. I was episodic for years but chronic for the last 3 or so.

If you want to talk I'll send to a private message with my mobile number.

There's lots to talk about and more options than you know to manage this thing.

Let me know if you want to talk....anytime.

Best,

Peter,

Hi and welcome

It seems you've come across what far too many people encounter in that you've a doctor who just doesn't have a clue how to treat CH. This isn't just a problem that people hit with GPs / family doctors but often with neurologists too. They just don't have the skills or experience with CH, which is why we always suggest that people find and work with a headache specialist with these skills.

There is some overlap with migraine medication in treating CH (mainly as there is relatively little CH medication research) but treating CH as if it is migraine just will not work effectively.

Peter will be able to give you a lot of knowledge on how to do anything CH related in Ireland, so I'd strongly suggest you get in touch. There is nothing quite like talking to or meeting someone else with CH as you both know what each other goes through in a way that nobody without CH can really understand.

Do read up about how many of us are using vitamin D3 as a very effective preventive, which is helping over 80% of people who try it (including myself).

And read everything you can here. There is a lot to learn and ask all the questions you have.
