new and figured i'd share my story

My cluster headaches are I believe were caused by contact lenses. I wore them for over 10 years. I switched to lenses that were approved to sleep in. Slept with them for years no problem. Then one day it was a cold winter and I put the heater on. I woke up it was extremely hot. My lenses dried out and my eyes were bloodshot and I had pain in my right eye. Took them out went back to sleep. Figured my eye would stop hurting after sleeping and my eyes would go back to normal. My eyes weren't bloodshot when i woke up but I had these new blood vessels in my eyes that were bigger and visible. It's been 4 years and my eye has a dull ache still. If I drink vodka (i can drink beer, whiskey) my eye will start to hurt very bad almost instantly it's weird. Also I was on xanax and decided to quit and that also made my eye hurt extremely bad. I believe there is now a dilated blood vessel that is touching some nerve behind my eye. Oddly I can smoke weed and this won't cause it to get worse. A cigarette will sometimes make the eye more painful. I always have a dull ache in my eye it's not really painful but I can tell that it's there if that makes sense. It feels like there's slightly more pressure in my eye. I also had eye exams by 3 different doctors and they said everything is normal including ocular pressure actually saying mine is very low. That's my story. Let you know if anything else changes.

G'day Cosna, and welcome.

All headaches are horrible and a good place to start is our Cluster Quiz button on the left side of your screen.

Let us know how you get on with it and we may be able to offer some advise.

Only better days ahead,

Brian down under.

Hi and welcome

Whilst you've been seeing eye doctors, have you working with a neurologist or ideally headache specialist? Our experience is that many doctors don't have the skills or experience to correctly diagnose or treat complex headache types. So working with someone will help you get the right treatment for what is causing your headaches.

I haven't seen a neurologist. I don't have the money to see doctors since my employer provided health insurance has a deductible of 5,000 so yeah it's not really an option to get testing done ect. My cluster headache isn't that bad as long as I avoid the things I talk about that will trigger it to get worse.
